New E-Mountainbikes from Eurobike – Part 1

SCOTT E-Spark Plus

Despite still in prototype-mode, SCOTT presented an impressive 3D-printed model of the E-Spark Plus. Built around an entirely new frame, the E-Spark Plus has very little in common with its unmotorised counterpart other than certain aesthetic features and its 130 mm front and 120 mm rear travel. In typical SCOTT style, the E-Spark Plus features the TwinLoc suspension adjustment system. However, in terms of its motor, the Swiss brand have boldly insisted on the brand new Shimano Steps MTB motor. As it’s super compact, the design was able to employ short chainstays for an agile handling package that suits its amount of travel. The 500 Wh battery has been well integrated to allow for a bottle cage; a welcome rarity on an E-MTB.

Rolling exclusively on plus-size tires, the SCOTT E-Spark will be available in three build specs from April 2017 onwards: the 720 Plus (€ 4,599), the 710 Plus (€ 5,799) and the 700 Plus Tuned (€ 6,999). Each model comes in four sizes from S-XL. Specific spec lists and geometry figures haven’t yet been announced, but we’ll keep you posted.

The E-Spark Plus runs on the all-new Shimano Steps MTB motor, which is fed by a downtube-integrated 500 Wh battery.

When good design pays off: stylishly integrated, SCOTT’s design is both slim and manages to include a bottle cage mount.
