MAXXIS have also opted to prime three popular rubbers for use on E-MTBs, although they have limited it to singular sizes and 27.5″ wheels. The Ardent will come with a width of 2.25″, the Ikon 2.2″ and the HighRoller II for 2.4″. Much like Schwalbe’s approach, the three models are characterized by increased puncture resistance (the SilkShield) and a harder rubber compound known as MaxxPro.

MAXXIS are also giving full flight to their plus-size range, with three defiantly more aggressive models joining their current Ikon+ and Rekon+ in the form of the Minion DHF, DHR II and HighRoller II. The HighRoller II will only be available in a 27.5 x 2.8″ width, while the DHF and DHR II will also come as a 29+ in 3.0″ width. Given our conviction that E-MTBs can profit from more aggressive treads, we’re excited to see how these models will roll in reality. It was evident at EUROBIKE that a surprising number of brands have obviously cottoned onto this belief and settled on MAXXIS tires for their wares.
