New E-Mountainbikes from Eurobike – Part 2

SIMPLON Steamer Carbon

Do not touch! Displayed in full glory at EUROBIKE, the SIMPLON Steamer Carbon is just a 3D mock-up and unfortunately not yet in a trail-worthy state. Taking an innovative stance, the Austrian brand have integrated the Shimano motor in its entirety, tidily scheming space in the carbon downtube for the 500 Wh battery and channeling the bike’s already sophisticated look. With 150 mm of travel, this trail bike rolls on the new 2.6″ Schwalbe tires, bears the current standards such as the Boost rear axle and a metric-sized shock – plus, it’s compatible with Shimano’s electronic Di2 shifters.

Do not touch: Right now it’s nothing more than a piece of 3D-printed beauty, but the actual bike should be fairly similar.

There’s a Shimano Steps MTB E8000 motor for power and it’s compact enough to allow for super short chainstays.

Despite being fully integrated in the downtube, it’ll be pretty easy to remove the battery from behind its lid.
