Our EUROBIKE date with SCOTT took about three times as long as with any other manufacturer, there were so many new developments and a load of information to digest: four new bikes, model maintenance, a new tire supplier and the surprising integration of new motors. Here are all the details!

SCOTT E-Spark Plus

Brand new and behind glass, so one can look but cannot touch – the new SCOTT E-Spark Plus with a Shimano Steps MTB-motor.
Brand new and behind glass, so one can look but cannot touch – the new SCOTT E-Spark Plus with a Shimano Steps MTB-motor.

First and foremost: SCOTT present an impressive 3D-printer-model, the E-Spark Plus prototype. The frame is a completely new development and, aside from having 130 mm suspension travel at the front, 120 mm at the rear and similar aesthetics, has little in common with its unmotorised counterpart. Typical from SCOTT is of course the TwinLoc lever allowing on the fly adjustment and lockout of front and rear suspension. For propulsion SCOTT have taken a new course and are integrating the brand new Shimano Steps MTB-Motor. This compact drive system allows shorter chainstays and therefore boosts maneuverability to match the suspension travel. The battery packs a capacity of 500 Wh and thanks to the integrated design, allows a bottle cage which is a seldom seen item on an E-Mountainbike.

The brand new Shimano Steps MTB-Motor draws its power from the 500 Wh battery which is integrated in the downtube.

Integration pays: In this case allowing the fitting of a bottle cage which is seldom seen on an E-Mountainbike.

The SCOTT E-Spark sporting Plus-Tires, will be available from March 2017, and comes in three specs 720 Plus (4,599 €), 710 Plus (5,799 €), 700 Plus Tuned (6,999 €), each in four sizes (S-XL). Exact details as to geometry and components are not yet available.

SCOTT E-Genius 700 Plus Tuned

With a complete revision for 2017: The E-Aspect targets both touring cyclists and novices, and thanks to the Brose drive offers quiet, harmonic assistance.

Thus far only available in the 710 version and winner of our comparison tests, the E-Genius Plus 2017 is now available in the 700 Tuned Top Level setup. Dealing with uneven terrain we have the E-Mountainbike specific 34 FLOAT Factory fork from Fox and a Nude Factory DPS-Shock. Also E-Mountainbike specific is a SRAM EX-1 drivetrain and SRAM Guide RE brakes. For motorisation on the Genius, SCOTT remain loyal to the Bosch Performance CX motor and offer as an option on all E-Genius models, the new minimalistic Purion display.

Another completely new development, the E-Aspect is designed for touring, relaxed riding and beginners. The Brose-Motor is supposed to offer harmonic, less aggressive assistance and is therefore easy to control for the less experienced rider. Thanks to the integrated battery a clean understated look and once again space for a bottle cage has been achieved. The customer has the choice between two wheel sizes and two component levels. The 720 and 920 will be available this winter for 3,199 €, and the 710 and 910 for 3,999 € at your favourite SCOTT retailer. The SCOTT E-Genius Plus gets a new Top-Spec with a complete E-Mountainbike specific setup, using components such as the SRAM EX1-Drivetrain and the SRAM Guide RE brakes.

Both E-Aspect models can be purchased with either 29” or 27.5” wheels.

Cool details: This stopper protects the frame from accidental handlebar impact and the space-saving battery placement allows the mounting of a bottle cage.

SCOTT E-Silence

The E-Silence targets commuter, city- and country cyclists, touring cyclists should also benefit from the clean lines and quiet drivetrain.

The 2017 updates are not only concentrated around the fat tired bikes – with the E-Silence, SCOTT present a thoroughly redeveloped bike for city, commuting and touring. Silence is not only a name it is agenda. Aside from the Brose-Motor keeping the bike acoustically quiet, other details such as the clean lines of the rack and fenders and the integrated lights help to keep the bike optically quiet too. Five variations priced from 2.999 – 5,799 € will be available and these will be in shops in early 2017.

… auch die Beleuchtung ist schön integriert.
… even the lights are beautifully integrated.
Nicht nur Akku, Gepäckträger und Schutzbleche passen ins Bild ...
Not only the battery, but also rack and fenders are perfectly incorporated…,

And last but by no means least, a change in ground contact: For the coming year all SCOTT bikes will be sporting MAXXIS rubber instead of the usual Schwalbe.

As of 2017 SCOTT will change from Schwalbe to MAXXIS tires.
