Transition Relay 2023 – First of its kind with the new FAZUA Ride 60

Transition introduces the Relay, the first e-mountainbike with the new FAZUA Ride 60 motor. It comes with a removable battery and is thus also intended to function as an analog mountainbike. With 160 or 170 mm travel and 29″ or Mullet configuration, the key data sounds promising. We have the most important info on the new bike.

Transition has recently presented their first e-mountainbike with the Repeater. This comes with Shimano EP8 motor and proud 85 Nm of support. Now Transition shows pioneering spirit and brings the first full suspension e-mountainbike with the new lightweight FAZUA Ride 60 system with 60 Nm of torque with the Relay.

Transition Relay 2023 – A bike for every occasion?

Transition promises the new Relay a bike that can be ridden with or without a battery and thus offers a conclusive overall package. Whether bike park laps with lift and no battery or even pedaling up with battery plus 60 Nm in the legs – the Transition Relay should allow both.

The handlebar remote is small and discreet yet activates all functions via three buttons: Support level, walk-assist, boost mode and light switch.
Through the large cutout in the down tube, the 430 Wh battery can be removed.
The plastic cover keeps everything sealed when you’re on the trail without the battery and you can easily stuff a rain jacket into the down tube instead of the battery.
The mini-display on the top tube shows charge status and support level. It can also be lifted up at the front to reveal a USB-C port, which you can use to tap the 430 Wh battery.

The 2.3 kg battery can be removed and the remaining hole in the down tube is closed with a plastic cover. The 2-second slimming treatment should make the bike much more agile and manageable on the descent.

Transition Relay 2023 – key data, availability and sizes

The Transition Relay 2023 will be available with aluminum and carbon frames from spring 2023. It has a FlipChip whereby the 29″ bike can also be easily ridden as a mullet with mixed wheel sizes. It comes with either 160 or even 170 mm of rear travel.

The FlipChip changes the geo and allows it to vary between 160 or 170 mm travel at the rear. This also allows you to switch between full 29″ or mullet setup.

A bottle cage can also be attached to the down tube plus a tool mount on the top tube. It will be available in a whopping six frame sizes from XS to XXL – more precise geometry data and different equipment variants are not yet known.

Transition has taken the plunge and is the first manufacturer to release an e-mountainbike with the new FAZUA Ride 60 system. The pictures and key data already look very promising, although extensive information is still rare. This hasty release alone allows conclusions to be drawn about how strongly contested the market of e-mountainbikes with light support will be in the future.
