Our impression

When it comes to E-MTBs, Haibike is still the brand to beat. Growing competition on the market has spurred the company to maintain their position, leading the Schweinfurt-based team to give virtually all of the XDURO models an overhaul for 2017, taking the industry aback with some pretty radical geometry alterations. We’ve often griped about the super compact geometry on the Haibikes and the 2017 models appear to have resolved this. We’re also stoked to see the use of plus-size tires on a lot of the models, as well as some seriously well-chosen specs with stiff forks and powerful brakes.

Viele richtig gemacht: Die 2017er XDURO-Modelle machen einen großen Sprung nach vorne.

For the SDURO range, Haibike have admittedly dived even further into geometry evolution, adopting the new Yamaha PW-X motor as well. As a result, the SDURO vs XDURO debate is even tougher to manage – and considering how the new Yamaha PW-X motor has caught up with the Bosch model, it won’t be easy to decide. But whichever direction you choose from their huge collection, there’s something to suit every taste. One thing’s for sure: there are some hotly contested group tests on the way!
