Haibike XDURO HardNine 2017

The XDURO hardtails haven’t been ignored and they’ve also been updated to modern geometry and plus-size tires. On the HardNine the head angle is now 2° slacker, settling down at a tidy 67°. The frame has also been extended by a whooping 41 mm, so the size L frame now measures 446 mm. As a result, the wheelbase is 76 mm longer, which should result in a smooth and more capable ride.

There’s a RockShox Yari at the front of € 3,999 XDURO HardNine 7.0 with 120 mm of travel. Shifting comes from a mix of Shimano XT and SLX components, while MAGURA’s MT54 take care of braking. The XDURO HardNine 6.0 for € 3,299 comes with a similar spec, but makes do with SRAM NX shifting and MAGURA MT4 brakes. Even easier on your bank balance, Haibike also offer the XDURO HardNine 5.0 for € 2,999 and the HardNine 4.0 for € 2,599.

It’s debatable whether the 2.6″ wide tires can be classed as plus-size in this case, as they’re on 29ers rather than 27.5″ wheels. But either way, there’s loads of traction.

Stiff forks like the RockShox Yari are the right choice – for hardtails too.
