At the Eurobike Media Days product presentation Focus Bikes really went the distance: during the first days they showed us a new version of the existing Harifa hardtail with Plus tyres as well as the proven Thron with a new (stronger) motor. On the last day they whipped out a completely new model: the Jarifa i29. The 29” E-hardtail presents a convincing technical spec and an elegant downtube-integrated battery.

The Jarifa i29 is a completely newly developed E-MTB, equipped with the new Impulse Evo RS motor it should be ideal for a huge range of uses from daily commuting to fast off-road rides.

The elegantly downtube integrated battery is noticeably unnoticeable and has a capacity of 621 Wh which should be enough for 200 km. The new Impulse Evo RS E motor boasts a torque of 80 Nm making it not just clearly more powerful than its predecessor but according to Focus it is also 20% quieter.

The Climb Assist function ensures that even when pedalling power decreases on the climbs your overall speed remains constant, it can be comfortably adjusted via the handlebar control unit whilst the adjustable Shift Sensor supports seamless and drivetrain friendly shifting.

Jarifa Fat

The Jarifa Fat is based on the existing Jarifa frame which has been optimised for use with extra-wide tyres. At 2.8” to 3.0” width theses offer a big trail contact patch which especially when combined with an E-bikes provides the advantages of greater braking traction and improved damping.

Thron

The well established Thron has also received numerous small improvements. A more powerful motor is now used and the geometry has been updated. The longer steerer tube offers a less stretched out riding position aboard the Thron 2016, which comfort orientated riders will especially appreciate. Features like the Climb Assist should also make uphills easier.

For 2016 Focus offers 8 Thron models – two of which are the women’s specific ‘Donna’ versions as well as two further ‘Speed’ models which offer power-assist up-to a speed of 45 km/h.
