We believe that you can’t judge a product simply by its look and feel, you have to try it out for yourself. At the Design & Innovation Award 2017 we spent 16 days in St. Vigil/Kronplatz, testing and analyzing the best products, greatest innovations and most exciting trends of the upcoming season.
If you thought that bike manufacturers were solely responsible for great, innovative bikes, then you’re off track. Often it’s component specialists that serve as the catalysts, driving innovation and designs. Take 1x drivetrain set-ups, for example, a simple change which has revolutionised the frame geometries we’re seeing today. Or consider metric-sizing for rear shocks; with their more compact dimensions they give more liberty to bike designers and lead to more sensitivity and efficiency for suspension set-ups.
This year, we did not see a whole new (bike) world order, but we did witness a ton of exciting new developments which spawned an array of new product evolutions. Not only did the following products solve problems, but they also brought greater potential, set standards, and mean that the 2017 season for bikes is going to be better, safer, and more efficient. And that means more fun for us!
