BikeYoke Revive

A quick look through the BikeYoke website showcases the company’s obsession with good design and ergonomics, often engineering solutions to others’ mistakes. Knowing this, we were excited to receive their latest product, the Revive seatpost. This 160 mm post is literally dripping with ingenious features. The Revive gives you more, for less: with its extremely low 45 mm stack height, you can squeeze a 160 mm drop into the same space as most brands’ 150 mm post. The clamp head is beautifully engineered, as the shaped top cap allows more adjustment of the seat’s fore/aft position and the seat can be fitted without undoing the bolts all the way or requiring the need for three thumbs. We love the one-piece lower design that provides more support to the top bushing, but it’s inside where the big changes have happened. The Revive does away with the conventional IFP design that is common to most hydraulically locked posts, simplifying the design and halving the number of seals required.

BikeYoke have kept easy servicing as a high priority, and this is where the Revive reveals its magic trick. All hydraulic cartridges will need bleeding over time, and to make this process effortless, BikeYoke have fitted a unique ‘revive’ valve. If the post develops sag, simply open the valve, depress the post fully, and the post returns to its former glory. On the trail the BikeYoke Revive is superb. The action of the shaft is one of the smoothest we have seen, and only light pressure on the ergonomically perfect Triggy remote is needed to initiate movement. With an adjustable return speed and the best remote out there, the Revive was near faultless. However, while we love the ‘revive’ valve, we found we were using it more than expected, a process that is far less frequent on most of the competition.
