In many places it’s still cold and wet these days, but we’re full of new year resolutions for the upcoming bike season. Summer should be about more than just lazing on a beach, sipping aperol spritz, and topping up your sunscreen. Here are our top tips for having the summer of your life with your E-MTB!

The daily grind takes it toll on us, doing the same thing day-in, day-out… whether it’s work, a dull relationship, or even just churning out the same ride on your E-MTB. But monotony isn’t a must. E-Mountainbikes are way more just a tool for sport! Not only are they a machine to unlock adventure, but they’re also able to fuel friendships better than Facebook and Instagram, as well as elevate relationships with your loved ones to new highs. Plus, did we mention that they also contribute towards saving the planet? Dubious? Don’t be. Check out these tips for the summer of your life.

Exploration

Be adventurous and experience your local loop in a whole new perspective by riding it backwards – or, more accurately, in the opposite direction.

Discover somewhere new by dropping a pin on Google Maps and riding towards it.

Take an E-MTB city tour and cruise around spots you’d never normally have ventured.

Head off for a micro-adventure in the local woods. Turn your bike into a packhorse and don’t forget your sleeping bag, stove, and tent.

Ask your mates for their recommendations on beer gardens, open-water swimming spots, and panoramic viewpoints. Don’t just aim for days out, but schedule some mini-holidays with swimming, beers, and relaxation!

Use your E-MTB as a mode of transport and scout out some summer events, like music festivals or wine festivals. Just make sure you keep below the legal limit!

Don’t get fixated on the Alps; what about planning a ride from Lands End to John O’Groats or a two-week ride across the length of Germany?

Train + bike: go for a whole new approach and take the train to the starting point of your ride, or have a specific train station as your destination so you can shuttle back. Not only will you get to ride further afield, but you can also relax on the train and soak up the views.

Do a credit card, hotel-hopping ride from city to city on your e-bike and use your phone to book that night’s accommodation. The brave ones amongst you could ask around on Tinder for somewhere to charge your battery.

Get in touch with old mates and ride to visit them or plan some routes from their house!

Get to know your E-MTB on a deeper level!

Churn out every last dredge of power from your battery! (But make sure you won’t be facing any climbs afterwards). Tip: best done in the mountains.

How economical can you be? Try to weasel out the ultimate range on a single ride. A high cadence is key!

Be indulgent and go for Turbo for one whole ride! The harder you pedal, the faster you’ll go!

Who cares if it’s raining? Summer rain showers aren’t so bad – plus, as a reward you’ll get the trails to yourself! (Although if you live in an area with sensitive trails, don’t put big ruts in the mud.)

Widen your social circle

Help your local dealer to organise a group ride!

From the net to the trails – head online to hunt out like-minded E-mountain bikers from your region and organise a social ride.

Be a better human

Free your kids from the shackles of their gaming consoles and take them out riding with you. They’ll go mad for the e-powered ride!

Source a spare e-bike and dig out the contact details for old friends. A ride with mates from days-gone-by will be a real trip down memory lane.

Tempt your partner to join you for a ride! Advanced tip: you can’t go wrong with a picnic in the woods. Who said romance was dead?

Book yourself onto a bike skills course. It’ll be fun and has three-fold benefits: better knowledge, the ability to outshine your mates’ skills, and an improvement in your safety while riding.

Save the planet!

Leave your car in the garage and commute on your E-MTB. Reduce your CO2 emissions and contribute towards saving the planet. Every little bit helps, right?

Tired of the same old story? Not with these tips! Aim to tick off as many as possible and tell us about it afterwards! Leave us a comment, we’re looking forward to your tales!
