The 2022 season is not holding back when it comes to innovation, but where’s it headed? What can eMTBing teach us about life? And why would Kant, the man who defined enlightenment, be proud of us?

The latest issue is available now in our free magazine app. If you haven’t installed our app yet, now’s your chance to download it for free in the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or in the Play Store (Android smartphones & tablets).

Not a year has passed since we founded E-MOUNTAINBIKE Magazine in 2013 without some mega shift in bike tech or the community. This season is no different. There’s such a bounty of new products being introduced that we’re even more excited about future developments. Always on the front line, our editorial office will humbly brag that they’ve been exhaustively testing hot new items and broadening their horizons, which you can read about in this issue.

Is now the time to mention that a product’s degree of innovation depends on how we actually use the item? Unfortunately, many of us are still trapped by old habits – but that can change

The beautiful thing in life is how some principles are the same the world over. When it comes to personal development, your bike has so much more to teach you than just when and where to grin. This became more evident to me back in spring when I rode cleanly up a steep section that I’d always thought would be out of my remit. It got me thinking about limits, which is what has led to an article I penned about wisdom we can glean from an eMTB. The golden rule: treat your eMTB in the way you wish to be treated. If you take really good care of your eMTB, then make sure you spoil yourself to the same extent. I’m pretty convinced that the great Enlightener Kant would be proud of us!

What to expect in this issue:

Where does wisdom come from? Many will say books – we say from riding an eMTB! Absurd, huh? But look, it’s more than one of the world’s best hobbies, more than a sporting activity and more than an adventure holiday. Ride your eMTB attentively, and it’s got a whole bunch of life lessons to teach!

Stuttgart has a lot to offer. But despite fantastic vineyards and Swabian cuisine, world-famous companies such as Daimler, Bosch or Porsche; despite one of the largest MTB communities in Germany, and despite trails leading into the middle of the city, “Stuggi” has an image problem. Is it deserved? We found out from the locals.

Brake tuning is not a crime! Good braking performance is crucial on the trail, allowing you to ride with more confidence. However, the brakes are still amongst the most neglected components on eMTBs. So it’s time to show you how to get the most out of your brakes and tune them without spending money on a professional mechanic.

Soaring mountains or bottomless lakes? Want to take a spin on the bike or switch off and relax? When it comes to active holidays, certain places do it better than others and South Tyrol’s Valdaora-Olang has all the threads to weave an unforgettable time – providing you untangle your bike choice first. Out on a ride, we discovered a region full of beautiful contradictions and penned the nuptials between gravel and hybrid bikes.

Not only does a bike park session boost your confidence and skills but also helps you understand what you and your eMTB are capable of! Riding electric can be a great way to revisit familiar bike park routes and push yourself beyond them! In this guide we’ll tell you everything you need to know about your next electrified bike park session!
