Mavic Crossride Elite W Shoes

The women’s specific Mavic Crossride Elite W shoe is Cat’s go-to shoe whenever she is using clipless pedals (which is most of the time), and they have proved invaluable over a full year of riding.

Cat first fully embraced clipless when faced with a six-day stage race on flat pedals; she soon committed to the cleats and hasn’t looked back. The Mavic shoes have been comfortable and stood up to testing remarkably well during the year, with no obvious signs of significant damage.
The meaty Contagrip tread is still in good shape despite a reasonable amount of hike-a-bike and scuffing around trail centre carparks. The normal weak points in shoes like sole adhesion and joining points are rock solid without any delamination.

The Mavic Crossride Elite W shoe isn’t the lightest option you can find, but neither are they marketed as a race shoe – it’s all about the trail for these stormers. However, the return of the ice and snow is also a reminder that neither are they winter shoes, as the ample mesh venting is not a winter warmer and is chilly in the cold. Cat can’t imagine these shoes not being “the ones,” so check back next year for an update.
