Bosch eMTB mode

There’s a famous Bavarian saying that goes: ‘Nothing in life is free. Not even death–that costs your life.’ Obviously our Bavarian ancestors hadn’t met Bosch back then. With the launch of their all-new eMTB modus, the otherwise spend-thrifty Swabian brand are delivering a hugely valuable upgrade for all E-MTBs with a Performance CX motor. The new mode replaces the former Sport mode and has the ability to switch on-the-fly from Tour to Turbo depending on your current riding situation. As a result, it’s all about more control, economising the battery and eliminating the need to switch between the modes so you can concentrate on what counts. Oh, and it’s all for free. Nice!

CamelBak Quick Stow Flask

It’s often the simplest ideas that are the best: fire, the wheel, penicillin…. Well, there is now a new addition to the list – the CamelBak Quick Stow Flask. Yes, on the surface it looks like just a bottle that you can roll up, but for those who like to travel light, the flask is a work of pure genius. If you have stash pockets in your bib shorts you can carry 500 ml of water, and when it’s all gone, you simply roll the bottle up – amazing! You can even fill it with gin and take it to work.

Capacity: 500 ml
Weight: 37 g
Price: € 29.95

Endura MT500 helmet

Recently, scientists have created the hottest temperature known to man, four trillion degrees Celsius. Which is only 4 degrees hotter than your head can get when cycling uphill on a hot day. Endura’s stylish MT500 helmet uses Koroyd engineered polymer tubes in place of EPS, boosting ventilation and forming linear crumple zones for protection. The sharp styling and cool features are a win with us, and the bold safety claims are impressive.

Weight: 343 g
Price: €159.90
Sizes: S/M, M/L, L/XL

Lezyne Digital Shock Drive Pump

If you’re the sort of person who cannot walk past a crooked picture frame, who always hits a round digit at the petrol pump, and can recite shock pressures like a familiar song, then this is the shock pump for you. Not only does the compact Lezyne Digital Shock Drive Pump give you your exact pressure, but it also looks a million dollars. Be warned, if you pull this out on the trail your buddies will be convinced you have had a pay raise and will make you buy the post-ride beers.

Maximum Pressure: 350 psi | 24.1 bar
Weight: 105 g
Price: € 69.90

Lupine SL E-Bike light

Ask Wikipedia for the definitions of lumens and it’ll respond with this: ‘The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI derived unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source.’ Yep, that’s where we turned off too. Electromagnetic waves and the like were enough to send us back to school. But we did learn that lumens are measured in lumens per steradian = candela (sr·cd), which is odd that this handy formula hasn’t caught on with the population. Luminous flux sounds like a fun concept, but even if we got lost there, we can confirm that the Lupine SL E-Bike’s lamp has 900 damningly bright lumen, plus it’s all totally legit for use on German roads and can be used in conjunction with Bosch, Yamaha and Shimano motors. So who cares about Wikipedia?

Power: 900 Lumen
Visibility distance: up to 250 m
Additional: Daytime riding light, meets German road regulations standard StVZO
Price: € 265

O-Synce Coachsmart LEV

The fumbling times of attaching your speedometer cable to your fork before flicking through complicated menus for what feels like an eternity are long behind us! Most E-MTBs now have displays that reveal all the essential information. But what happens when an E-MTB simply doesn’t have a display like the Specialized Levo? Well, that’s where the O-Synce Coachsmart LEV comes to the fore. Super easy to connect to the bike, it’s a nifty device that can work out your remaining battery life and switch through levels of pedal-assist without asking you to move your hand off the bars. For a mere € 3,99 you can also get hold of the Naviki navigation app and connect the Coachsmart with your phone–if you’ve spent thousands on your Levo, this is surely a worthy investment. Naturally, as it’s basically a bike computer, it’ll show you how fast you’re riding too.

Connectivity: ANT+ for sensors/ANT+ LEV Profile/Bluetooth 4.0
Price: €79.90

SQlab 30X Carbon Handlebar

We know we cannot reinvent the wheel, but what about the handlebar? We love wide bars, as they are often a great way to bring more stability and confidence to your bike, but what about those riders without shoulders like an NFL linebacker? Some of us are stretched out so far you could almost kiss the stem. Biomechanical heretics SQlab claim to have the solution with their whacky new 780 mm 30X bar, with a huge 16 degree backsweep, almost double the competition. SQlab claim the larger backsweep brings the elbow into a perfect position for a dynamic riding style for maximum radness.

Width: 780 mm
Rise: 15/30/45 mm
Backsweep: 16o / 12o
Weight: 235 g
Price: € 199.96

Vibram Megagrip

When it comes to grip, nothing can beat the Asian-Pacific Coconut Crab, whose claws have ten times the grip strength of a human and can lift the weight of a small child. Coming a close second is the Vibram Megagrip outsole used on the Giro Chamber. If you dream of the Sirens’ call of real mountains, measure your rides in elevation earned, and think nothing of shouldering your bike to conquer the peaks, you will need some serious traction – and nobody understands mountain footwear better than Vibram. In the wilderness you’ve got 99 problems, but grip ain’t one.

Price: Included on the Giro Chamber
