Telescopic seat posts and E mountain bikes – does this combination actually make a good partnership? We definitely think so! Especially as the extra weight compared to conventional seat posts is of only minor importance for an E-MTB.

Regarding conventional mountain bikes, for most the performance benefits offered by a telescopic seat post prevail over the extra weight of app. 400 grams . For an E-MTB, the additional weight is quite immaterial. On top of that, in recent years we have not seen many major innovations that improve riding qualities and safety. The Rock Shox Reverb is a revelation, representing excellent quality and proven reliability which we put to the test on rough off-roads. Ergonomics and infinite seat-height adjustments are beyond all doubt!

For the subsequent fitting of a telescopic seat post, it is important to order the correct post size to match your internal frame dimension – known as the seat post diameter.

The Rock Shox Reverb, recommended by us, is available in most common sizes. The post is available in two versions, the Reverb and Reverb Stealth. “Stealth” means that the cable can be routed within the frame for a neater installation. To do this, the frame needs to be compatible with internal cable routing. Otherwise, an ‘ordinary’ vario seat post with an exterior cable can be fitted (see photo).
