First Look | Haibike XDURO HardSeven Plus
At their own brand fair, Haibike presented an e-hardtail that goes by the name of XDURO HardSeven Plus, whose plus-size tyres are intended to grant the bike precision and comfort in one. The HardSeven will hit the market with two different model options, both of which will feature the new Bosch Performance CX motor.
As the name suggests, the all-new XDURO HardSeven Plus rolls on plus-size tyres, which have a width of 2.8″ to 3.0″ to allow for a super low air pressure. This not only increases comfort while riding, but also grants you far more traction – a characteristic that’s particularly welcome for heavy E-bikes when you once might have found yourself slipping out quite often.
The fork and the aluminium frame on both versions feature a thru-axle that is intended to increase rigidity, and therefore provide more handing precision and confidence. The rear wheel mount takes the new Boost 148 Standard, offering extra clearance and yet more rigidity.
XDURO HardSeven Plus RC
The HardSeven Plus RC is the more affordable of the two models, and comes kitted out with a SUNTOUR Raidon LO-R-650B Plus fork and a mix of Shimano SLX/Deore parts forming the drivetrain. For braking, the bike relies on the affordable TEKTRO Gemini hydraulic disc brakes, whose 180 mm disc brakes possess decent braking power for the e-bike. The Schwalbe Racing Ralph tyres are mounted onto 40mm-wide RODI Ready 40 rims.

XDURO HardSeven Plus RX
The top of the range HardSeven Plus RX has RockShox Reba RL forks for front suspension, and the accompanying new Boost 110 standard delivers a high level of rigidity to boot. The drivetrain and shifters hail from Shimano’s latest XT 11x groupset, whose low weight and easy and ergonomical qualities definitely score highly. Just like its cheaper sibling, the HardSeven Plus RX takes Schwalbe Racing Ralph tyres and RODI Ready 40 rims.

Conclusion:
The XDURO HardSeven Plus can be definitely be classified as an interesting hardtail with some unquestionably good features on its spec. We’ve already been convinced by the concept of pedal-assist bikes with plus-size tyres, so Haibike could have nailed this market. If you’re looking for an agile but comfy and reasonably priced E-bike, the XDURO HardSeven Plus might be just the solution. However, we’re waiting to carry out some more exhaustive test riding soon before we pass on our definitive opinion.
