BMC Speedfox AMP 130 mm

The € 11,000 LTD Speedfox AMP features a dream spec, Shimano XTR Di2, FOX Factory suspension and DT Swiss HXC 1200 carbon wheels.

It’s fair to say that BMC took their time investing in the E-MTB market, sitting on the fence for a few years to see how the sport was developing. But when they finally took the plunge, they cannonballed into the market with their superb Trailfox AMP. After the popularity of the 160 mm Trailfox, BMC have now released a shorter travel 130 mm Speedfox AMP which will be available in three different models, all using the Shimano Steps E8000 motor. The frames use Twin Hollow-Core carbon fibre, which basically allows BMC to create the very large tube diameters you see in the Speedfox AMP. The top-of-the-line LTD model features a one piece Carbon rear triangle, while the two more affordable models use aluminium swing arms. The entire Speedfox AMP range has been optimised for 29 inch wheels and BMC use the same APS suspension system as found in their non-powered range, tuned for a progressive end-stroke to give a more trail bike feel than the bigger hitting Trailfox. The components have been optimised for a lighter weight too, changing from four piston brakes to two and modifications to the carbon give a 600 – 700 g saving over the Trailfox. With a 472 mm reach in size large and a 66° head-angle, on paper the Speedfox AMP looks like it should be a missile. With prices from € 5,500 to € 11,000 for the top ‘LTD’ model, only those with deep pockets need apply.
