Ergon BA2 E Protect

With a capacity of 10 litres, the Ergon BA2 E Protect is currently the smallest eMTB backpack on the market. The battery compartment is not padded or made of neoprene as with the other backpacks, but consists of a fabric compartment with three adjustable Velcro straps. The advantage of the fabric compartment is that it doesn’t take up any space if no battery is transported. However, the handling is a bit more complicated than with a pre-formed battery compartment. The removable Bosch PowerPack and Shimano STEPS BT-E8010 ebike batteries are almost cemented in place thanks to the Velcro straps. Unfortunately, the diagonal layout of the Velcro straps restricts the capacity of the main compartment. The InTube batteries from Bosch and Shimano will fit into the backpack, but can’t be fixed upwards. The backpack is also too small for larger batteries.

The front pocket offers enough space for tools and pumps. A separate bladder compartment, a hip pocket, and a zippered pocket for the rain cover provide additional storage options. The Ergon BA2 E Protect is the only ebike backpack with a camera holder and safety line for GoPro and Co. With other features such as a helmet holder and a holder for your pads, it’s designed for all mountain bikers and eMTBers who love trail riding.

Due to its compact design, the Ergon gives you a lot of freedom of movement on the trail. The length of the back section can be adjusted to your back length. A bomb-proof fit (due in part to the wide hip-belt) and good ventilation round off the package. But beware: not all batteries will fit.
