The Best E-SUV 2025 – 10 E-Bikes in Comparison Test

29.1 kg in size M | € 6,499 | Manufacturer website
When it comes to pioneering eMTB brands, Haibike is hard to overlook. Back in 2010, the brand from Schweinfurt unveiled the Haibike eQ XDURO – one of the world’s first sporty eMTBs – marking a milestone in the evolution of electric bikes. Since then, Haibike has stayed true to its focus on motor-assisted bikes, building its identity around that core.
With the ADVENTR series, Haibike is taking a confident step into the booming SUV e bike segment in 2024 – and the lineup now includes several models. The ADVENTR 9 is powered by a Yamaha motor, while the € 5,199 ADVENTR 8.5 uses the tried-and-true Bosch Performance Line CX, like our test bike. But there’s only one model in the range that pairs the Bosch motor with an ABS system: the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS. It’s the top-of-the-line model in the series, and our pick for this group test.
All models in the Haibike ADVENTR series are available with either a traditional diamond frame (high-step) or a more comfortable step-through design (low-step). In terms of geometry, these SUV e bikes draw heavily from Haibike’s sporty AllTrail eMTB range, but promise to deliver more: the fun ride of an eMTB, added safety thanks to e bike ABS, and full everyday practicality with fenders, kickstand, lights, and a rear rack.
Power comes from Bosch’s 5th-generation Performance Line CX motor, while an 800 Wh battery ensures plenty of range. Our test bike features the step-through frame and comes in at € 6,499 – placing it right around the middle of the price range in our group test. The ABS-equipped Haibike is only available in one color: a slightly tongue-twisting “galvanize grey/metallic acacia haze – glossy.”
What Sets the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS Apart? The Sportiest Step-through on the Market?
Our test bike isn’t Haibike’s first sporty low-step model with ABS, but it is the first to come fully equipped for touring. Based on the same frame platform as the Haibike AllTrail Low 10.5 ABS eMTB (which we’ve already praised for its sporty character in a dedicated test) the ADVENTR 11 ABS rolls in with a clear focus on versatility.
The oversized down tube not only houses the 800 Wh battery, but also plays a key structural role in frame stiffness and stability, given the absence of a top tube. We were particularly impressed with the clean integration of the Bosch motor beneath the angular shock linkage. However, that linkage does raise the step-over height compared to other step-through SUV models in this test – such as the KETTLER PINNIATO FS SPORT Wave or the Kalkhoff Entice 7+ Excite ABS Wave.

Haibike relies on the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen5 motor – a powerful, well-balanced, and pleasantly quiet system. But why the Schweinfurt-based brand chose to pair the crisp, clear Kiox 300 display with the rather bulky LED Remote is beyond us. The central display gives you all the ride data you need, while the LED Remote feels overloaded with buttons, increasing the chance of misclicks. In our opinion, the Mini Remote would have been the better choice, both visually and ergonomically.
No complaints when it comes to battery removal: the battery cover is released via a convenient twist knob, and the battery itself unlocks with a key – quick and hassle-free. The rubber flap protecting the charging port from dirt and water, however, takes a bit of force to close flush. Need more range? No problem: the frame is ready for the Bosch PowerMore range extender, adding 250 Wh of extra capacity.

Conceptually, the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS positions itself between the more commuting-focused CENTURION Lhasa R2000 and the sportier Mondraker Chaser X. Overall, the Haibike strikes a solid balance between eMTB performance and everyday usability. The integration of the TRELOCK lighting system is also well done: the front light sits directly below the display, while the rear light is mounted to the lower section of the rear fender. That said, the rear light lacks a brake light function, and its low position isn’t ideal – in busy urban traffic, it can easily go unnoticed. As for cockpit cable management? Not so great – it’s a mess. And one real dealbreaker: the chain rubs against the frame. A longer chainstay protector would have been an easy fix here, especially since we had already started to notice scratches forming in the aluminium during our first test ride. Pro tip: apply frame protection film right away.

With a total permissible weight of 150 kg, the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS proves to be pleasantly robust, making it a solid choice for taller or heavier riders. The rear rack, rated for a maximum load of 15 kg, supports both the MIK and MIK Side systems, allowing for quick and convenient attachment of panniers and accessories. Another plus: Haibike has officially approved the bike for trailer use.
Tuning tip:
– Add an angle-adjustable stem to raise the cockpit for more comfort in everyday riding.
– If you’re spending a lot of time in the city, don’t forget a bell – a small upgrade that makes a big difference in traffic.
More Safety with ABS – On the Road and Off the Beaten Track?

ABS – a standard safety feature in cars and motorcycles – is still relatively unknown in the e bike world. And that’s a shame. Especially on SUV e bikes, which are used by riders of all ages and skill levels, ABS provides a significant safety boost. Whether it’s during sudden braking in city traffic, or riding over slippery surfaces like manhole covers or wet cobblestones, ABS helps defuse dangerous situations with noticeable effect. But it’s not just in urban settings where the system shines. Off the beaten track, on gravel roads or damp forest trails covered in leaves, ABS ensures controlled braking and prevents unwanted skids and slides. That’s a huge plus when riding fully loaded, as is often the case in the SUV e bike segment. The Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS gives you two ABS modes to choose from: Allroad and Trail. Allroad intervenes early to prevent the front wheel from locking – ideal for day-to-day use. If you’re after a sportier ride, however, Allroad can feel a bit limiting. That’s where Trail mode comes into its own. It steps in later, allows just a touch of front-wheel slip, and gives experienced riders more room to play – without compromising safety. Bottom line: the added safety from ABS is not only noticeable, but always in the back of your mind. In our view, ABS should be standard on every modern SUV e bike.

Taking a Step-through Into the Bike Park? Why Not …
Step-through frames are usually associated with comfort – easy to hop on, practical for daily use, but rarely what you’d call sporty. That’s exactly why the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS caught us off guard. This step-through isn’t just low – it’s a gateway into a whole new category of step-through performance. The riding position on the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS feels decidedly sporty, thanks in part to the low cockpit and fairly wide handlebars. Alongside the Moustache CLUTCH and the Specialized Turbo Tero X 6.0, the Haibike is one of the sportiest bikes in the entire test field. Despite this, it never felt uncomfortable, even over longer distances. The bike feels well-balanced, constantly reminding you of its MTB heritage. Wheelies and manuals? Surprisingly doable – and you’re sure to turn heads when you pull them off on a step-through.
The steering is direct but never twitchy. Contributing to the bike’s confident handling are the firm yet responsive SR Suntour suspension and the powerful MAGURA four-piston brakes, which – combined with ABS – noticeably boost the overall sense of safety. In everyday use, the Haibike performs just as capably. Whether you’re hauling full panniers or towing a trailer with your dog in tow, the bike remains composed and stable – almost as if there were no extra load at all.
Even though the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS performs well across the board, its true playground is clearly off-road. On trails – even steeper ones – it shines with its sporty geometry and plush suspension setup. It’s a true fun machine that’s just as happy shredding dirt as it is cruising to the local ice cream shop. The only downside on the trail? The fenders and kickstand tend to rattle. Brands like Riese & Müller and Kalkhoff handle this better – the latter even mount the kickstand closer to the bottom bracket to reduce vibrations and eliminate annoying noises.
Who is the Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS SUV E Bike For?
The Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS is the right choice for anyone looking for a versatile SUV e bike that performs equally well in everyday use and off-road terrain. Comfort-focused riders will appreciate the low step-through frame, though the sportier riding position might not be for everyone. If you enjoy an active riding style, you’ll love the bike’s balanced geometry and responsive suspension. Sporty riders in particular will feel instantly at home on the Haibike SUV e bike – its well-tuned handling and trail-ready suspension deliver a confident, composed ride. That said, it’s also a capable everyday companion: whether it’s weekend touring or grocery runs, the dynamic step-through handles it with ease – as long as you respect the 15 kg rack limit. Just don’t expect a bolt-upright city cruiser. The ADVENTR 11 ABS plays in the same sporty, performance-driven league as the Mondraker, Specialized, and Moustache.
Conclusion – Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS SUV E Bike
Haibike strikes an impressive balance with the ADVENTR 11 ABS, blending eMTB-like dynamics with the comfort of a step-through frame. Few fully equipped SUV e bikes feel this agile and sporty while still offering solid everyday practicality. The Bosch ABS is a true highlight – boosting safety both in city traffic and on the trail – rounding out a well-thought-out overall package. It’s not without flaws: the cluttered cockpit and short chainstay protector are weak points. But they don’t take away from the bigger picture. The Haibike ADVENTR 11 ABS takes a close win, earning a well-deserved best in test, and proving just how exciting step-through SUV e bikes can be.
