The Best E-SUV 2025 – 10 E-Bikes in Comparison Test

27.16 kg in size L | € 5,599 | Manufacturer’s website
Based in south-western Germany, CENTURION builds just about everything, from kids’ bikes to full-suspension eMTBs, so it’s no surprise they’ve got an SUV e bike in the lineup too. The Lhasa R2000 comes with 120 mm of travel, putting it in the lower third of our test field, but does a versatile all-rounder really need more than that?
At 27.16 kg, the CENTURION Lhasa R2000 is the third-lightest bike in the test field, trailing only the Specialized Turbo Tero X 6.0 and the Mondraker Chaser X. It also scores well on price: at € 5,599, it’s the second most affordable bike in the group. On top of that, you get a lifetime frame warranty, smart design details, and a solid spec with a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, a removable 800 Wh battery, 29″ wheels, and a full set of everyday equipment. While visually understated, the Lhasa R2000 is technically capable and promises “light off-road adventures, trekking tours, and bikepacking trips.” Sounds like the perfect all-rounder? We put that claim to the test, on tarmac, gravel, and trail. By the way, the Lhasa R2000 is also available in a subtle black finish.
The Details Make the Difference – What Sets the CENTURION Lhasa R2000 SUV E Bike Apart?
The CENTURION Lhasa R2000 presents itself as timeless and elegant, without feeling overdesigned. The clean cockpit setup, featuring the Bosch Kiox 500 display with Mini Remote, is both sleek and practical. Cable routing is almost textbook-level tidy, though it runs through the headset, which might not be popular with home mechanics.
A glance at the frame’s lower section reveals the sleek integration of the Bosch Performance Line CX motor. Despite housing an 800 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery, the down tube remains fairly slim. The charging port is cleverly positioned: located on the non-drive side of the seat tube, it flips open upward, and the cover recesses into the frame. This helps prevent breakage, even when a range extender is plugged in. That’s a particularly interesting option for those who want to go further or carry more: the Lhasa SUV e bike is compatible with Bosch’s 250 Wh PowerMore range extender, bumping the total capacity up to a whopping 1,050 Wh – perfect for long tours or weekend escapes. The range extender mounts to the bottle cage bosses inside the front triangle, using a special adaptor rail. This is available online or from your local dealer.
If you don’t want to miss out on the extra battery capacity provided by the range extender, but also don’t fancy wearing a backpack just for your water bottle, the Lhasa has you covered. In addition to the standard bosses inside the front triangle, there’s another set up near the head tube, and it also features mounting options on the top tube. However, space on the down tube is tight: there’s only room for a tool mount or the CENTURION frame bag, which can hold things like a spare tube – a large water bottle won’t fit there.
Its everyday usability is also evident in the lighting setup: the front light sits centrally below the display, while the rear uses a continuous LED strip, reminiscent of a Porsche taillight – a much better solution than, say, the low mudguard-mounted light on the Moustache CLUTCH 150.7 EQ. The package is rounded off with sturdy aluminium mudguards and the robust Racktime SNAPIT 2.0 Deluxe luggage rack, which carries up to 20 kg and integrates nicely with the bike’s design.

One of the most stylish and unique features in the entire test field: CENTURION’s in-house crankset, paired with a chrome-finished chainring, offers a nice visual highlight. And for those who like to celebrate their rides as much as they like to fix their bikes, there’s a clever little detail you’ll love: the rear thru axle handle doubles as a bottle opener and mini-tool, including 4 mm and 6 mm Allen keys for on-the-go repairs.
Tuning tip: Add a bell – it’s a simple upgrade, but one that boosts safety and city readiness without compromising the bike’s clean look.

What is the CENTURION Lhasa R2000 SUV E Bike Capable Of?
Hop on and go! Getting yourself onto the CENTURION Lhasa R2000 is relatively easy, though not quite as effortless as with the step-through models in the test field, like the KETTLER PINNIATO FS SPORT. Still, thanks to its curved frame design, the top tube sits fairly low, making it easy to swing a leg over. A PROCRAFT dropper post with 170 mm of travel adds to the convenience, getting the saddle out of the way. The riding position is comfortably balanced – a touch sportier than the Riese & Müller, but far from aggressive. You sit upright and relaxed, with your weight nicely distributed between the wheels. Combined with the 800 Wh battery, it’s ideal for long rides into the hills.
The handlebar width and geometry are spot-on – the handling is direct and intuitive, giving you confident control on almost any surface. Whether it’s wet cobblestones or loose gravel, the Lhasa carves through corners precisely, without feeling twitchy. It’s not a playful fun machine; rather, it’s a confident all-rounder that feels at home everywhere.
The SR Suntour suspension strikes a good balance between smoothness and support, though it’s tuned a bit firmer than what you’ll find on the Riese & Müller Delite5 GT. It smooths out rough bike paths and forest roads effectively without feeling mushy – ideal for tours with light trail sections, or commutes that include curbs and potholes. On rougher trails, however, the bike does reach its limits – it isn’t as plush as something like the Haibike ADVNTR 11 ABS.
The Bosch Performance Line CX motor shines with its punchy acceleration. In Turbo mode, it kicks in with surprising immediacy – something sleepy commuters or red-light sprinters should be ready for. Fortunately, the response can be fine-tuned via the app, so the ride stays sporty but manageable. The Shimano DEORE XT LINKGLIDE 1×11 drivetrain offers enough gear range to tackle steep climbs with the Bosch motor’s help. On the flip side, when descending and hitting around 45 km/h, the front end begins to flutter. Luckily, the Shimano DEORE brakes provide reliable, well-modulated stopping power. One thing we missed on the CENTURION Lhasa R2000 – as with many of the SUV e bikes – is an ABS system, which could be a real safety boost, especially for beginners.
In everyday use, the Lhasa R2000 performs confidently. While not quite as practical as a Riese & Müller Delite5 GT Pinion, it’s also over € 3,000 more affordable. And if you’re standing at the foot of a staircase when the lift is out of order, its 27.16 kg weight means it can still be carried. That’s something you’d think twice about with heavier bikes like the R&M Delite5 or the KETTLER PINNIATO FS SPORT – unless you want to risk a herniated disc.
Who is the CENTURION Lhasa R2000 SUV E Bike For?
The CENTURION Lhasa R2000 is perfect for riders looking for a versatile and lightweight SUV e bike that can handle a bit of everything – from daily commutes and shopping runs to extended touring and light off-road use. With its comfortable yet slightly sporty geometry, full everyday equipment package, and practical features like range extender compatibility and a lifetime frame warranty, it suits both urban explorers and weekend adventurers. It’s especially appealing to those who value a clean look, smart integration, and reliable performance – and who don’t need a step-through frame or plush full-suspension travel. If you want one bike to cover all bases, without breaking the bank, the Lhasa R2000 is a solid, well-rounded choice.

Conclusion – CENTURION Lhasa R2000 SUV E Bike
The CENTURION Lhasa R2000 is the second most affordable bike in the test, yet it offers nearly everything you could want: a large battery, timeless design, and solid everyday equipment packed with clever details. There’s little to criticise – it’s simply a bike that does (almost) everything right. The battery cover could use a visual update, and ABS would be a welcome addition. But beyond that, the Lhasa impresses with its easy hop-on-hop-off feel and its intuitive, confidence-inspiring handling: It’s our clear Best Buy recommendation!
