Together with UNNO Bikes, we hosted the most exclusive test ride of the year in Barcelona – an experience like no other. For weeks, the new MITH has been making waves across forums and social media – rumors, speculation, hype. But what’s the real story? One lucky E-MOUNTAINBIKE reader got to find out firsthand! Oh, and we’ve got some good news for all our readers, too!
What would you do if you had 48 hours to ride one of the most progressive eMTBs of 2025 – before anyone else? Before the pros, before the media, before the official launch? Exactly: grab your sunscreen, helmet, and pads—because when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like this comes up, you’d better be ready to roll.

The response blew us away: within just one day, over 250 riders from 32 countries applied to join the test ride – all eager to spend a spontaneous weekend with us in Barcelona. Among them were Red Bull Rampage riders, former pros, product managers from other brands, journalists, content creators, and most importantly: passionate mountain bikers hungry for adventure. The skill level? High. The motivation? Even higher. But in the end, there could only be one winner.

Fate had its say: the lucky test rider – Brodie – came from the UK and could hardly believe it at first. “I never thought I’d actually win,” he told us.

Sometimes things move faster than you’d think: less than 48 hours later, we met Brodie at Plaça de Catalunya in the heart of Barcelona. But before hitting the trails, we hit up a concert – a wild mix of oriental electronic live music blended with classical instruments. A few dance moves later, it was well past midnight – time to crash. The trails were calling.
T-shirt weather and a MITH equipped with – ahem – something other than the Bosch CX motor.
Soaked to the bone. Barcelona is known for its endless sunshine and great weather. But for over a month, the Mediterranean coast had seen almost nonstop rain. Then we showed up – and so did the sun. Timing is everything.

On Saturday morning, Olle – UNNO’s sales mastermind – picked us up in the heart of Barcelona. The destination: the Maresme region on the Costa Brava. The trails around Maresme have since earned a reputation for being even better than one of our all-time favorite test locations in Santa Coloma de Farners, where we ran our big E-MOUNTAINBIKE group test for years.
In the trunk of Olle’s Mercedes van: the current MITH rocking a Bosch CX motor – and a noticeably sleeker version of the MITH with… oops, can’t spill the beans just yet.

UNNO Unfiltered – Maresme’s Trail Gold and a Glimpse into the Future
We meet UNNO founder Cesar Rojo in a parking lot near the trails. Together, we dial in the setup for Brodie – who even brought his own grips all the way from the UK and wasted no time mounting them. A few quick tweaks to the motor settings in the app, and we’re off – time to hit the trails!

Tight, steep, twisty, flowy, technical – with epic views and chunky rock sections thrown into the mix. The trails of Maresme have it all. Brodie quickly finds his rhythm, pins it through the turns, throws down wheelies, and sticks to Cesar’s rear wheel like glue.

Brodie usually rides analogue bikes – from Transition to Yeti to Atherton. His first verdict: “In the downhills, the bike feels very nice and planted. You forget you’re on an ebike.”

By the end of the ride, we’d clocked around 2,100 vertical metres. The bike’s battery was down to 11% – and ours were completely drained. Time for a well-earned lunch break, served with a side of exclusive insider knowledge: development insights, market analysis, and secret plans for the future. A deep and honest dive with UNNO mastermind Cesar Rojo, Olle Olsson – who was Head of Sales at Stark Future Motorcycles before joining UNNO – and E-MOUNTAINBIKE founder Robin Schmitt. And of course: paella. What else?

Looking ahead: good news on the horizon.
This wasn’t your typical test event. No waiting in line at some pop-up tent. No rushed tech talk in passing. Instead, it was an exclusive experience for E-MOUNTAINBIKE readers – one the global bike community will be seriously jealous of.
“Ride the Future” is a new format, and it’s here to stay. In collaboration with progressive brands like UNNO, we’ll continue to invite you to ultra-exclusive test rides. Ride the latest bikes before anyone else, dive deep into the development process, and meet the minds behind the machines – sounds good, right?

Save the Date – April 10th is going to be lit
What exactly was rolling beneath us? Still top secret. But you’ll want to circle April 10th in bold on your calendar – that’s when our exclusive review of the new MITH drops.
And the best part? We were the only magazine in the world to test the new UNNO as early as January – alongside the 30 hottest eMTBs of 2025. So yes, you can also start getting hyped for our massive group test – coming your way this April.
