More juice, more oomph: With the Bosch CX Race motor, a massive 800 Wh battery and 160/150 mm of travel front and rear, the 2025 Pivot Shuttle AM is built to crush your home trails, power through Alpine landscapes and flow through every corner like it’s second nature. But what’s actually new on this full-power eMTB — and does it back up Pivot’s bold promise of a new all-mountain benchmark?

With the second generation of the Shuttle AM, Pivot aimed to create the ultimate all-rounder for the all-mountain segment. From “rally car” to “trophy truck”, as the American manufacturer puts it, this eMTB is built to handle it all – epic days out, techy climbs, and full-gas descents. To get there, Pivot’s team in Arizona refined a whole host of details. The new 800 Wh battery is not only more compact, helping to lower the centre of gravity, but it also saves 408 grams over the previous 750 Wh version. Add in the Bosch Performance Line CX Race motor, and the Shuttle AM promises even more oomph on the trail. In size LG, the Gen2 tips the scales at a very reasonable 23 kg, retailing at € 11,999. But how much of this is clever marketing – and how much is genuinely new? We took it to the trail to find out.

The new 2025 Pivot Shuttle AM in detail

At first glance, it’s hard to tell the Gen2 Shuttle AM apart from its predecessor. Pivot stayed true to their signature design language, with smooth lines and distinctly profiled tubes The shock now sits slightly more upright in the frame, giving the latest iteration of the Shuttle AM a noticeably tidier, more streamlined look. A big part of that cleaner appearance comes down to the revised cable routing. Instead of two separate ports, both cables now disappear neatly into the frame through a single opening just behind the head tube. A smart touch: a subtle clamp on the stem that holds the brake hose in place and prevents it from rattling. A small yet very welcome detail. Nice!

All variants feature a full carbon frame, which Pivot custom-tune for each size using tailored carbon layups and adjusted fibre angles. There’s a tool mount under the top tube for your trail essentials, while four mounting points on the downtube allow you to position your bottle cage exactly where you want it. Out on the trail, a generously sized chainstay protector keeps things quiet by covering large parts of the rear end and effectively silencing chain slap. The raised motor cover adds extra protection against stray rocks, while a small rubber flap between the main frame and rear triangle keeps out dirt and muck rather effectively.

The specs of the new 2025 Pivot Shuttle AM

Let’s race! Pivot equipped the Gen2 Shuttle AM with Bosch’s new Performance Line CX Race motor, complete with the exclusive Race mode. Straight out of the box, it delivers 100 Nm of torque and up to 750 watts peak power – and you can fine-tune the motor settings via the Bosch eBike Flow app, too. The drive draws its power from a permanently-integrated 800 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery, which is mounted in rubber-lined fittings to prevent it from shifting or disconnecting with heavy impacts or big compressions. That’s a smart move, especially since past models occasionally suffered from momentary cut-outs caused by loose connectors. If you’re after even more range, you can add the 250 Wh PowerMore range extender for an additional €500, boosting total capacity to a hefty 1,050 Wh. The trade-off? You’ll have to ditch your bottle cage, and the charging port cover needs to be removed to fit the extender. It’s easy enough to put back on, but there’s always a chance of misplacing it. On the bright side, the fiddly rubber cover from the previous model is finally gone, replaced by a sleek plastic cap with a magnetic closure and an embossed Pivot logo – it stays put, keeps water and dirt out, and doesn’t rattle. Controlling the motor system is the compact Bosch Mini Remote on the handlebars, while the sleekly integrated Bosch Kiox 400C display sits neatly in the top tube, giving you all the key ride data at a glance.

With the Pro X0 Eagle Transmission variant, Pivot rely on high-quality, hard-wearing components. For the first time ever on one of their eMTBs, they’ve opted for a full RockShox suspension. The 160 mm RockShox ZEB Ultimate fork employs the latest Charger 3.1 damper, and is paired with a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate air shock controlling 150 mm of travel at the rear. The latter features a handy SAG indicator on the shaft to help you get your setup spot on. The bike takes its name from SRAM’s X0 Eagle Transmission drivetrain, which delivers crisp, seamless gear shifts even under full load. SRAM Maven Silver four-piston brakes do stopping duties together with 200 mm HS2 Centerlock rotors front and rear. A slight drawback: finding spare Centerlock rotors can be trickier than sourcing standard 6-bolt discs. A 210 mm OneUp V3 dropper ensures optimal freedom of movement on the descents, while bombproof DT Swiss HX1501 aluminium wheelset encourages you to plough through the nastiest rockgardens at mach 10. Pivot use Super Boost spacing at the rear, which adds stiffness but can make it harder to find spare parts. For the tires, the American manufacturer relies on a classic MAXXIS combo, with a Minion DHF up front and a DHR II out back, both in the tougher EXO+ casing and MaxxTerra rubber compound. If you regularly ride rougher trails, it’s worth upgrading to the tougher DoubleDown casing, at least at the rear. And once the front’s worn out, upgrading to the grippier MaxxGrip version will give you extra bite where you need it most.

The new Shuttle AM Gen2 is available in three different spec options, each named after the drivetrain it comes with.

Pivot Shuttle AM Team XX Eagle Transmission | 160/150 mm (f/r) | 29”
21.5 kg in size LG (manufacturer’s specifications) | € 13,999

For a hefty € 13,999, the Team XX Eagle Transmission build gets you the full-monty package: Bosch Performance Line CX Race motor, FOX 36 Factory fork with GRIP X2 damper, and a FOX FLOAT X Factory shock. Shifting is taken care of by a SRAM XX Eagle Transmission drivetrain, while powerful SRAM Maven Ultimate brakes do stopping duties. The DT Swiss HXC1501 carbon wheelset keeps the weight down and is fitted with the same MAXXIS tire combo as our test bike. According to Pivot, the flagship model weighs just 21.5 kg in size Large, which makes it one of the lightest full-power eMTBs on the market. And if you really want to go all-out, you can upgrade to the Team spec with FOX Live Valve Neo air suspension for an additional € 1,300.

Pivot Shuttle AM Ride Eagle 70/90 | 160/150 mm (f/r) | 29”
23.3 kg in size LG (manufacturer’s spec) | € 8,599

The Ride Eagle 70/90 entry-level model retails at € 8,599, and combines a carbon frame triangle with an aluminium swingarm. While the Bosch Performance Line CX motor can be upgraded via software to 85 Nm and 750 W peak power, it lacks the titanium crank spindle, ceramic bearings and Race mode of the CX-R. There’s also a downgrade on the display side: instead of the sleek Kiox 400C integrated into the top tube, you get the older Bosch System Controller. Shifting is taken care of by a mechanical SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission drivetrain, while SRAM DB8 Stealth four-piston brakes do stopping duties. This variant rolls on a DT Swiss E532 alloy wheelset and the same MAXXIS tire combo as on all other models. Total weight is 23.3 kg in size Large.

The geometry of the Pivot Shuttle AM 2025

The 2025 Pivot Shuttle AM is still available in four sizes, SM to XL, offering a suitable option for riders between 1.60 m and 2.00 m tall. On paper, not much has changed compared to the previous model: our test bike in size Large combines 476 mm reach, a 64.1° head tube angle, and a slightly steeper 76.5° seat tube angle. The only bigger change is the chainstay length, which has grown by 4 mm to 444 mm – still very much in the average range.

Straight from the factory, though, the Gen2 Shuttle AM comes as a full 29er.

The new 2025 Pivot Shuttle AM on the trail

Swing a leg over the saddle, start pedalling, feel right at home! That’s the welcome the Pivot Shuttle AM gives you. The balanced riding position integrates you nicely between the wheels, without feeling overly stretched or cramped. The relatively tall front end adds to the feeling of comfort, especially on long climbs, where there’s minimal pressure on your hands. On forest paths and fireroad climbs, the DW-Link rear suspension works efficiently, with barely any pedal bob. It pedals so efficiently you can forget the lockout lever exists.

On longer rides, the Shuttle AM shines with Bosch’s new eMTB+ mode. This delivers smooth, natural support, helps conserve battery life and still packs enough punch for steep climbs. When the gradient kicks up a notch and things get more technical, the Shuttle turns into a climbing tractor. In Race mode, the powerful motor reacts with lightning speed to pedal input, unleashing full power almost instantly and continuing to push forward even after you’ve eased off the pedals. On rough, technical climbs, however, the sensitivity of Race mode is a bit much, making it harder to stay precise and controlled in demanding terrain. In tricky sections, we recommend switching to the more balanced eMTB+ mode.

Race mode ON: Hit Race mode, power up the fireroad, and live that full-on Shuttle Life.

Point its nose downhill, and the Shuttle AM is an absolute confidence booster. It feels intuitive from the first turn, letting you flick the rear end playfully through corners while still holding a strong line at speed. Switch the flip chip into the high setting, and the bike becomes noticeably more agile and lively, without sacrificing stability. When things get rough – rock gardens, root carpets, technical chutes – the Shuttle remains planted and composed. The suspension is tuned on the firmer side, soaking up heavy hits with ease while still offering good small-bump sensitivity and enough reserves with bigger impacts. It’s the kind of bike that lets you charge hard while keeping a light touch on the brakes. Even with all that stability, the Shuttle is just as happy carving through flow trails. Thanks to the relatively light weight, you can throw it into berms, rail fast transitions and flick it through tight turns without effort – and without a peep. Whether you’re hammering high-speed lines or playing around on more mellow trails, the 2025 Pivot Shuttle AM proves itself as a seriously capable and versatile downhill all-rounder.
