Five years and 15 issues later, that same name is on the front of this anniversary issue – but it’s taken on a whole new dimension. Five years in turbo mode with pioneering, dreams and visions. To truly understand what led E-MOUNTAINBIKE Magazine to where it is today, you have to turn the dial back more than five years. It has taken brave steps, accusations of heresy, and a spontaneous decision to alter the magazine strategy. This article takes a look in the past of our magazine.

New motors, lighter bikes and a whole new category of bikes – next year has a lot in store for eMTBs. We’ve summarised the latest trends and developments.

The brand new Specialized Turbo Levo Expert promises to be as versatile as its predecessor while offering increased agility to make it handle more like it’s non-motorised counterpart. With a more powerful motor, larger battery, new carbon frame and countless improvements, has it reached the next level of eMTBs?

Lawnmowers, chain saws and motocross bikes – Husqvarna hasn’t been a brand you’d usually associate with eMTBs, but all that’s about to change. To find out what it’s capable of, we were given the exclusive opportunity to review Husqvarna’s new Hard Cross HC 9.

The CENTURION Numinis Trail E doesn’t really grab your attention. On the contrary, with its simple silhouette and quiet design, it’s easy to overlook. But still waters often run deep, and on the trail the bike revealed a completely different side.

eMTBs have turned the bicycle world on its head. Previous definitions of categories have had their day. Efficiency is no longer significantly dependent on suspension travel or weight. Do we even need a short travel bike like the CUBE Stereo 120 HPC TM? Or is that what makes this bike so much fun?

The Trance E+ 0 SX Pro is Giant’s electric trail-weapon for the rough stuff. With its downhill-oriented spec and generous travel, it literally begs you to ride hard. But can the Giant Trance E+ 0 SX Pro get us high on downhill trails, long rides and flowy trails?

Despite being a small company, US brand Intense is a big player in the mountain bike scene and has its roots in downhill racing. With the release of the Tazer, Intense presented its first eMTB, and not wanting to do things by half measures gave it full carbon frame and an integrated Shimano motor. To find out if it’s able to mix with the cream of the crop, we took the new bike out for a ride.

Let’s be honest for a moment. What are most of us looking for when buying a bike? Uncompromising geometry? Top specs? Or is it actually the colour scheme? If that’s what really matters you won’t get past the brand new LIV Intrigue E+ 1 Pro that easily. But we found out that LIV’s new women-specific eMTB has a lot more to offer than just flashy looks!

Brose’s new eMTB motor is smaller, lighter and even more compact than any of the models previously released by the German manufacturer. Yet it was developed to be even stronger than the current in-house alternatives. We tested the brand new Brose Drive S Mag on different bikes and can tell you what it’s really capable of.

Wintertime is eMTB time! Well, not really. Freezing temperatures, rain, snow, mud, and salt not only make riding uncomfortable, but also increase wear and tear on your bike. Nevertheless, winter eMTBing can be a lot of fun, so for those who can’t or don’t want to stop riding, we’ve compiled a few of the most important tips to help you and your bike get through the winter unscathed.

TQ – a cryptic acronym that stands for something downright simple: Technology in Quality. The Bavarian brand has already sent their eponymous principle into space (quite literally), and are now pursuing the ambition to become a major player on the e-bike scene. Having paid a visit to TQ, we can testify that there’s a whole lot more to this brand than just their powerful motor.

The aim of our reader survey was to find out who you are, what you’re interested in and whether you prefer carbon or aluminium. 10622 eMTBers from 79 countries responded, answering about 70 questions and providing a ton of exciting insights.

As of right now, all the exciting articles can be downloaded from our interactive tablet or smartphone app, and they’ll make their way onto the website over the next few weeks. Have fun reading!
