Whilst some bikers are still grumpily getting annoyed about the very existence of
e-mountainbikes, we are happier than ever: on the one hand because for us it’s all about having fun, on the other because the lion’s share of the bike industry is also fully committed to building new fun and sporty devices for e-bikers.
There’s hardly a manufacturer which doesn’t have a brand new model in their range. More potent, better-looking, and just plain better — those are the new 2015 bikes.

We’ve already been able to test the new Trek Powerfly (p.10) for you as well as the Haibike SDURO AllMtn RC 2015. On page 11 we shine a light on how e-performance pioneer Haibike is still exploring new avenues.

Trailtrophy

Together with Rotwild and Brose, we tried out new prototypes at the Breitenbrunn Trailtrophy Enduro race, where a lot was learnt (p.16).

Combat_Boots

Our essay “On Combat Boots and Bomber Jackets” on p. 12 is a plea for tolerance, even though you might initially think just the opposite.

Peek

Our service articles (p.16) also explain the technology behind e-mountainbikes. Apart from battery-powered drives, the same parameters apply as with mountain bikes without electrical assistance: fun, safety, and performance.

In order to increase that fun, we also took a look at how to tune our e-bikes. What we learnt, which systems work, and what actually led to disillusionment — you can read all about it on page 13.

Just as disillusioned about his turbo-lifestyle was our protagonist in the article on page 17. Luckily, he got it together and fun has returned to his biking.

Top100

In order for biking fun to carry on or even to start, you need first-class specialist
e-mountainbike retailers with specific know-how and outstanding service. That’s why we set ourselves the task of identifying and honouring Germany’s best e-bike shops to give you a reliable guidebook for servicing and your next bike purchase (p.15). The right advice and good service make the biggest difference between fun and frustration.

And there we are back at the beginning: let’s have fun!

Not just on the bike, but of course also whilst reading this issue – on iPad, iPhone or in our online-viewer!
