FANTIC are back. The historic Italian motorcycle brand, whose eMTB division had gone quiet in recent months, returns with two new platforms: the FANTIC SIERRA and FANTIC RIDGE, targeting trail and all-mountain terrain respectively. We took a closer look at the SIERRA, a carbon-framed trail bike built around the Bosch CX motor.

Until now, FANTIC relied on Brose drive units for their higher-end eMTBs. With the new platforms, however, the Italian manufacturer is deliberately taking a different route, partnering with Bosch as part of a strategic shift in direction.

As Nicola Baggio, General Bike Manager at FANTIC, explained to us: “With the 2026 range, Fantic Bikes takes a decisive step forward in its growth and innovation journey. The new partnership with Bosch represents a major strategic evolution, elevating the brand’s e-MTBs to a new level in terms of performance, reliability and technological content. The agreement will also support Fantic’s expansion across European markets, while ensuring even stronger after-sales support for our dealer network.”

New platform, clear direction

With the SIERRA platform, FANTIC present an e-mountain bike clearly aimed at demanding trail and all-mountain riding. According to the manufacturer, the focus is on a balanced mix of control, precision and agility – qualities that really matter on technical trails and rough terrain.

With 160 mm of travel up front and 155 mm at the rear, the SIERRA is firmly positioned in the long-travel trail to all-mountain category. With this setup, FANTIC promise plenty of reserves for demanding descents while still maintaining balanced climbing performance.

A flip chip system adds further flexibility, allowing the geometry to be adjusted between a classic 29-inch setup and a mullet configuration (29-inch front, 27.5-inch rear wheel). The latter improves agility and traction on tight, technical trails.

Carbon frame with well-thought-out details

The FANTIC SIERRA features a frame built almost entirely from carbon fibre, with the main frame, rear triangle and rocker link all made from carbon. The battery cover, meanwhile, is constructed from fibreglass.

One particularly interesting aspect is the rear suspension design. The Horst Link pivot is positioned coaxially with the rear axle. According to FANTIC, this solution combines several advantages: improved braking performance by further decoupling braking forces from suspension movement, along with a cleaner overall look and potential weight savings.

Another technical detail can be found in the connection between the chainstay and main frame, which uses a special compensation system. Inspired by solutions from the motorcycle world, a guide ring is designed to ensure the bearings remain correctly aligned and preloaded at all times. The result should be greater durability and a more sensitive rear suspension response.

Bosch CX Gen5 with plenty of power

Power comes from the latest fifth-generation Bosch Performance Line CX motor. Having only recently received the Performance Upgrade 2.0, the system now delivers up to 120 Nm of torque and a peak output of 750 W, providing seriously powerful support. Especially on steep technical climbs, the update brings noticeably better control, traction and modulation.

The motor draws its power from a removable Bosch PowerTube battery with 800 Wh capacity. There’s also the option to fit an additional 250 Wh PowerMore range extender, boosting range for longer rides.

First impressions

Even without riding it, the FANTIC SIERRA makes a well-thought-out and thoroughly modern impression on paper. The combination of a newly developed carbon platform, the powerful Bosch drive system and adjustable geometry makes it an appealing option for a wide range of riding scenarios.

Whether the mix of suspension, geometry and rear suspension design truly delivers the promised precision and control will only become clear once we’ve had it out on the trail – but more on that soon. One thing is already obvious: with the SIERRA platform, FANTIC are making a clear statement in their return to the eMTB segment.
