GORE C3 GORE WINDSTOPPER Urban Camo Jacket in review

In the “The Lab” we present the latest products and put them through their paces for you. Some undergo long-term tests, while we check others out only briefly. This time we reveal how the GORE® C3 GORE® WINDSTOPPER® Urban Camo Jacket fared.

Looking at it, the GORE C3 Urban Camo with its camouflage design could also be a jacket for the Siberian mountain infantry, if it weren’t for the neon yellow details on the sleeve, which make a lot of sense in traffic but are completely unsuitable for modern combat. If you look at the jacket purelyin terms of functionality, however, then every soldier would be envious. Above all, we were convinced by the absolutely wind-proof and water repellent yet breathable upper, closely followed by the four pockets, all of which can be closed with a zipper. Especially the so-called Napoleon-pocket, which is a hidden breast pocket; and the pocket on the back for stowing cereal bars. The back of the jacket also features a neon yellow sign, which folds out to provide the necessary visibility in traffic. Anyone who gets cold ears is in luck because the GORE C3 Urban Camo has a tight-fitting hood with a small reflective peak and an elastic band. The main zipper doubles an additional reflective element.

The Napoleon pocket is ideal for storing sensitive or valuable items.
The elastic waistband is adjustable.
The neon yellow cuffs and the foldable sign are vital in traffic.

In recent months, our editor Manne wasn’t seen wearing any other jacket than his GORE C3 Urban Camo Jacket. Whether on the daily commute to work, on rides with his dog Henry or various trail excursions on the weekends, you would only have seen Manne riding in modern camouflage. We can highly recommend the jacket for the spring, as the windproof membrane offers plenty of protection from the cool temperatures. However, as soon as the thermometer slips below zero degrees, you’ll need something a little warmer. Thanks to the elastic cuffs, even your wrists are protected from the cold. The jacket will keep you dry if you’re caught in a light shower, but it isn’t rated to withstand a continuous downpour. The Urban Camo in size L fits Manne comfortably, being 178 cm tall and weighing 85 kg.

The GORE C3 Urban Camo quickly became Manne’s favourite jacket and will continue to serve him for a long time, thanks to its modern design, thoughtful details and good functionality.
