One bike, two identities – the THRON² 6.8 EQP employs the same frame platform as its naked counterpart, the THRON² e-tourer. It features the new Bosch Smart System motor with 750 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery and was designed for both long tours and hectic urban life.

FOCUS Thron² 6.8 EQP | Bosch Smart System/750 Wh | 130/130 mm (f/r)
28.88 kg in Size M | € 5,799 | Manufacturer’s website

With the € 5,799 THRON² 6.8 EQP, FOCUS offer a comfortable e-tourer that is particularly well suited for forest paths and trails. It relies on the same frame platform as its sportier naked counterpart, the THRON², and relies on a new 85 Nm Bosch Smart System motor. This draws its power from a big 750 Wh battery that can be removed from the down tube of the aluminium frame. The eBike Lock function of the Bosch Smart System allows you to deactivate motor support via smartphone, making your bike less attractive to potential thieves when parking it outside your house. On long tours, the practical USB-C charge port on the top tube allows you to power a smartphone or external GPS on-board computer. The full equipment includes robust aluminium mudguards, a kickstand and a lighting system. The latter ensures good visibility at night and consists of a HERRMANS H-Trace Mini tail light integrated in the rear mudguard and Litemove AE 130 headlight with low and high beam functions and bar-mounted remote control.

The high permissible total weight of 150 kg and pannier rack with 16 kg load rating allow you to cram your panniers full of goodies at the weekend farmers market before heading to the countryside. And while you’re at it, you should take advantage of the trailer approval to tow a trailer with a beer case to match the yummies! Since the mudguards take up a significant amount of space, the fully equipped FOCUS THRON² 6.8 EQP relies on narrower tires than its naked counterpart, rolling on 2.25″ Schwalbe Smart Sam tires front and rear. With their shallow profile, they still generate sufficient traction on dry forest paths and fire roads but quickly reach their limits on wet and loose terrain, heavily restricting the fun factor on the trail. On the other hand, the plush 130 mm suspension consisting of a RockShox 35 RL Gold fork and SR Suntour Edge air shock ensures a good level of comfort on forest paths and trails.

On fire roads and forest paths the plush suspension ensures a good level of comfort while the RockShox 35 RL Gold fork features all the mounting points for the mudguards.
The USB-C charge port is extremely practical, allowing you to charge your smartphone and external GPS devices on long tours.
The narrow and shallow-profiled 2.25” Schwalbe Smart Sam tires generate sufficient traction on dry terrain but quickly reach their limits in wet conditions.
