With the new Giant Trance E+ and Giant Stance E+, Giant presents two exciting new eMTBs with Yamaha SyncDrive motors and integrated batteries. We’ve got all the details and had a chance to take the top-end Giant Trance E+ SX Pro for a test ride in South Tyrol.

With the new Stance E+ and Trance E+, Giant is making eMTBs an integral part of their lineup. The new range of eMTBs doesn’t only look similar to their un-motorized counterparts; there are parallels also in the amount of travel, rear linkage design and intended use.

The new Giant Stance E+ …
… and the potent Giant Trance E+ SX 0 Pro

With its compact geometry, the Stance E+ is specifically designed to meet the needs of eMTB beginners, and thanks to mud guard and stand compatibility it’s suitable for everyday use too. The Giant Trance E+ promises to be as much fun on long tours as it is railing through berms on flow trails. The Giant Trance E+ SX Pro is an even more potent version, for those who like things a little more adrenaline filled and aren’t afraid of gnarly roots and rock gardens.

As before, Giant relies on the expertise of Yamaha when it comes to the motors of the new bikes, utilising the powerful SyncDrive motor to provide up to 80 Nm of torque. The SyncDrive Pro on the Trance E+ and Trance E + SX Pro provides all the power you need. The lower entry Stance E+ makes use of the slightly heavier and less powerful SyncDrive Sport; with 10% less support it should provide a more natural riding experience. Giant has created extra narrow cranks for the Trance E+ models in cooperation with Praxis Works, to reduce the Q factor. The distance between your feet on the pedals should be the same as on regular mountain bikes despite the motor.

EnergyPak – Integrated battery with quick charge function

The new, fully integrated battery from Giant provides a slimmed down, clean look. It disappears in to the down tube, and a protective cover shields it from dirt and flying rocks. Due to its position, enough space was created in the front triangle for a water bottle. With the exception of the Stance E+ 2 (400 Wh), the EnergyPak of the new bikes has a capacity of 500 Wh. Using the quick charger, one hour of charging promises to fill the batteries to over 60% capacity.

RideControl ONE – Minimalist remote control

Giant deliberately got rid of the large display on the new Trance E+ and Stance E+ models. Instead, they’re using the new RideControl ONE remote. With the compact remote control, the push of a button lets you conveniently select riding modes. LEDs provide information on the support level of the motor and the charge level of the battery. We think that’s all the information you need. Since the display has a Bluetooth interface, we can imagine that an App or something similar will follow soon.
