EUROBIKE 2015 | The 2016 Moustache Samedi 27/9

Despite being fairly unknown here, the French manufacturer Moustache already has a decent range of E-mountain bikes. For 2016 they have consolidated and reworked their line-up of full-suspension bikes. We have taken a closer look at both versions of the 29/7 full-susser.
Similar to Liteville, the 29/7 concept is based on different wheel sizes or travel front and back. The Moustache team has stayed true to this approach, so all models come with 27.5” at the rear and 29” at the front. In principle, the current models (Silver, Titanium, Gold) form the basis of the new 29/7 Trail series and the more downhill-oriented Race model is now offered with 2 different specifications.
New for both models is the Bosch Performance CX-Motor with 500 Wh-battery (or 400 Wh for the cheaper Trail model) and a components choice which has been completely reworked. One of Moustache’s quirks is its 14 tooth chainring (Standard Bosch: 15 teeth). This has been used in the past as well, but according to Moustache it ensures a perfect range of gears when combined with the big 42t cogs of the new 10x/11x drivetrains. To increase reliability, all models have also been equipped with a new specially designed chain guide.
Another interesting feature is the specifically designed dropper post made by a Thomson supplier found on some models. It seems solid and of high quality; the remote switch can be ergonomically positioned to act like a trigger. However, the seatpost will only be available with a Moustache bike and not in the aftermarket.
29/7 Trail

As usual the Trail series will be offered in 3 different specifications with 3 sizes for each, but only with 140 mm rear travel and 120 mm fork. Apart from the cheapest model, all will come with the in-house dropper post, and the Moustache-produced shock mounted on all models comes with a platform compression switch. The other main differences can be seen here:
Trail5 | Trail7 | Trail9 | |
Fork | RockShox Gold30 TK | FOX FLOAT 32 | RockShox SID RL |
Battery | 400 Wh | 500 Wh | 500 Wh |

29/7 Race

The longer, slacker Race series is designed a bit more for downhill use, with only 5 mm extra travel at the back compared to the Trail series, but with 150 mm travel on its 29” wheel at the front. Both models have the big 500 Wh battery, the dropper post and the shock with platform switch. These are the differences:

Fork | RockShox PIKE RC | RockShox YARI RC |
Battery | 400 Wh | 500 Wh |
