AMFLOW may be new to the whole eMTB game, but with tech-giant DJI backing the company and the Avinox motor system at its core, the PL Carbon Pro is aiming for the top. The drive system delivers an impressive peak power of up to 1,000 watts and an impressive 105 Nm of torque. In Boost mode, the latter even spikes to 120 Nm for a short time, surpassing all established e-bike motors in this regard. The 800 Wh battery is permanently integrated into the sleek carbon frame, and can be swapped for a lighter 600 Wh variant. In our charging test, the DJI Avinox system impressed with the second-highest average charging speed after the Specialized Turbo Levo, with a rate of 5.8 Wh/min. In other words, the 800 Wh battery charges from 0 to 100% in just 145 minutes! Want to know more about fast charging for eMTBs? Check out our in-depth article here!
The 2-inch OLED display is seamlessly integrated into the top tube and features a USB-C charging port. It’s intuitive to use and allows you to navigate through the settings via a high-quality touchscreen. The support modes and Boost mode can be selected using the two wireless handlebar remotes. With its countless customization options, the Avinox app lets you fine-tune the support levels, adjust parameters like overrun, or tweak the power delivery at start-up. Beyond that, the PL Carbon Pro offers top-tier connectivity with features such as GPS tracking, an alarm system, and ride data logging. The geometry can be adjusted too using a flip chip in the shock mount, which makes it possible to convert the AMFLOW to a mullet bike with a smaller 27.5” wheel at the rear. At just 20.7 kg in size L, the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro is one of the lightest full-power eMTBs in this test field, weighing an impressive 3 kg less than the average. At €9,999, the flagship model sits right in the middle of the comparison test in terms of price, while its little brother, the AMFLOW PL Carbon, is one of the most affordable options in the lineup at just €6,449. How did these two eMTBs perform in our ultimate comparison test? Find out here!

What Sets the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro Apart From The Competition?
At first glance, the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro looks more like a light eMTB than a full-power e-bruiser. The slim downtube and compact motor ensure a nimble, elegant look, while the organic design language and black paint finish add a classy, understated touch. The only striking contrast to the dark silhouette is the golden lettering on the downtube, which makes a bold yet refined statement.

A small downtube protector shields the paint against nasty impacts, while a plastic cover at the transition between the main frame and the swingarm prevents small rocks from getting jammed in the gap. A generously sized chainstay protector keeps the bike pleasantly quiet on the trail. The frame features bottle cage mounts on the downtube, and an additional tool mount on the underside of the top tube, allowing you to secure all your trail essential directly to the frame. The cable routing is well thought out: almost all cables disappear into the frame through ports behind the head tube, running straight to the component where they’re needed. This ensures a clean look and also makes it easy to service the bike. The only drawback: the front brake cable rubs against the head tube and chafes the paint.

The AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro comes equipped with a 160 mm FOX 36 Factory fork, which features a fancy Kashima coating and new GRIP X2 damper, ensuring strong trail performance while at the same time offering countless adjustment options. The fork is paired with a matching FOX Float X Factory shock controlling 150 mm of travel at the rear. The 180 mm FOX Transfer Factory 2025 dropper post ensures average freedom of movement on descents. Shifting is taken care of by an electronic SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission drivetrain, which delivers butter-smooth gear shifts, even under full load. MAGURA MT7 Pro brakes with 203 mm rotors front and rear provide reliable, powerful deceleration. The AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro rolls on Amflow’s in-house HMC-30 carbon wheelset and MAXXIS tires, with an Assegai in the thin EXO casing at the front, and Dissector in the slightly thicker EXO+ casing at the front, both in the harder MaxxTerra rubber compound. To protect the carbon rims and enhance performance, we recommend upgrading to a MAXXIS Assegai in the soft MaxxGrip rubber compound and more robust EXO+ casing at the front, while at the rear you could switch to a more aggressively-profiled Minion DHR II tire in the harder MaxxTerra rubber compound and EXO+ casing.

How Did the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro Perform in Our Test?
Shuttle replacement! If you reach the trailhead on a fire road, the DJI Avinox M1 motor provides powerful support, catapulting you to the top of the hill in no time when using Turbo mode. Despite its immense power, the DJI Avinox M1 is pleasantly quiet, delivering smooth yet incredibly strong assistance. You’ll find yourself constantly hitting the 25 km/h limit, and thanks to the comfortable, slightly front-heavy riding position and sensitive suspension, the AMFLOW also scores high in terms of uphill comfort.
Whether it’s steep ramps or rocky sections, the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro climbs with impressive ease and pushes you uphill without compromise.

The AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro truly shines when tackling technical uphill terrain. Whether you’re negotiating rocky sections or slippery roots this eMTB defies gravity and powers you up the climb. Engage the 30-second Boost mode, and even the steepest ramps are child-play. Even on extreme gradients, the front wheel remains planted on the ground, ensuring precise steering control, as long as it’s dry. Despite the shallow-profiled rear tire, the bike still generates sufficient grip on climbs. Alongside the Moustache Game 160.9 and the Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo, the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro ranks among the most capable climbers in this test, delivering impressive uphill performance for a fun climbing experience.
When gravity takes over, the low front end is a clear drawback. While it provides direct and precise steering on moderate trails, it significantly affects stability on steep and technical descents. As a result, you’ll have to actively shift your weight far back to avoid diving-head first over the bars. Additionally, the shallow-profiled rear tire lacks traction on loose terrain. The moderate, comfort-oriented geometry reinforces the playful trail character of the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro, which, as a result, thrives on flowing trails, where the agile handling and firm yet sensitive suspension allow you to carry speed without too much physical effort. Here, it encourages you to keep your fingers off the brakes, while at the same time allowing you to navigate tight corners with precision and ease. However, when it comes to downhill capability, the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro falls behind the rest of the test field. Bikes with similar amounts of travel, like the Orbea Rise or Santa Cruz Vala, leave it behind in a cloud of dust in rougher terrain.

The AMFLOW’s more affordable sibling, the €6,449 PL Carbon, delivers a very similar performance on the trail. Uphill, the differences are marginal – aside from the cable-operated SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain and slightly less sensitive FOX Performance suspension, the strong climbing performance is nearly identical. Riding downhill, however, the aluminum handlebars of the AMFLOW PL Carbon has an advantage, reducing arm pump on longer, rougher trails. Additionally, the Amflow HMA-30 alloy wheels are less susceptible to impacts, and won’t implode on you as easily. That said, the suspension doesn’t perform as sensationally as its top-tier counterpart in rougher terrain, and the front end tends to get twitchy more easily. The MAGURA MT5 brakes don’t bite as hard as the MT7 Pro top-tier model but are perfectly adequate for moderate trail riding.
On the technical trails of Finale Ligure, the e-MTB quickly reaches its limits and feels much more at home on familiar singletrack.

Who Should Take a Closer Look at the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro?
The AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro is designed for ambitious uphill riders, both beginners and pros, who want to set climbing records while having fun on the trail. However, when it comes to steep and technical descents, it reaches its limits. For those who like to cruise on flowing trails and singletracks without pushing the bike to its extremes on the way down, the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro is a reliable companion. Additionally, the AMFLOW PL Carbon, which is €3,500 cheaper, presents an attractive alternative.

Conclusions about the AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro
The AMFLOW PL Carbon Pro proves that a full-power eMTB doesn’t have to be beefy. With its elegant design, seamless integration, and top-tier connectivity, it sets a benchmark for modern eMTB aesthetics. Uphill performance is unbeatable, which makes it one of the best climbers in this test. However, downhill performance is limited by the shallow -profiled tires, and the low front end robs you of security, and causes the bike to reach its limits on demanding trails. It’s the ideal choice for riders who prioritize uphill speed and don’t expect extreme downhill performance.

Tops
- Incredibly strong climber
- Extensive connectivity features
- High level of integration

Flops
- Low front end rbs you of confidence downhill
