Bionicon Engine – The first E-MTB from Bavaria’s Tegernsee
The team at Bionicon are certainly well versed in steep climbs and gnarly descents, which led to their pretty unique approach to adjustable geometry on their conventional mountain bikes. Right now we’ve just laid our eyes on their very first E-MTB, the Bionicon Engine. While it doesn’t have geometry adjustment, it does offer variability at the rear end: running with a Shimano STEPS motor, the bike is pitched as a 27.5+ model with 2.8” tires and 140 mm of travel, or as a 27.5” model with 160 mm travel. The geometry specifics are yet to be confirmed, but based on its slack head angle, we’d argue that the Engine looks like it’ll be a ripping descender. It remains to be seen whether Bionicon will bring their geometry adjustment across to their E-MTBs, but there were some rumors flying around EUROBIKE Media Days so stay tuned. With prices starting from € 3,500, the bike will be available from Eurobike onwards in two build specs.
