BH present the new iLynx Trail Light eMTB featuring the new 2EXMAG motor and 540 Wh battery

BH Bikes are known for their distinct ebikes. With the new iLynx Trail, the Spanish brand are introducing a Light eMTB with many unique selling points, such as the 2EXMAG motor, developed in-house specifically for this bike. Read on for all the details.

For the new iLynx Trail, BH have further refined their in-house motor. Coming in at 2.1 kg, BH claim that the new 2EXMAG motor is slightly lighter than the previous version, which you’ll find in the BH iLynx Race. Fortunately, they’ve done so without sacrificing performance, putting out 250 W power, 65 Nm torque and assisting up to 300%, as before. Additionally, the motor in the new iLynx Trail is said to assist up to a cadence of 110 rpm. Housed inside the down tube is a 540 Wh battery, which can be expanded by an additional 180 Wh via the bottle-shaped XPro range extender. The new motor gets operated via the iRemote control unit with LED’s indicating the battery and support level. The iLynx Trail no longer has its own display and can be connected wirelessly to a Garmin device instead. Doing so gives you access to additional data via the Garmin display, including the cadence, estimated range and speed. The BH iConnect app should also allow you to configure the support modes to suit your preferences.

The charging socket is integrated into the central pivot point of the rear end.
The new iRemote is all you need to operate the motor of the new BH iLynx Trail, featuring colour LEDs and three buttons. The bike is no longer specced with a separate display.
The 540 Wh battery is integrated into the frame. The bottle-shaped XPro range extender can provide an additional 180 Wh battery capacity.

The Light eMTB features a full carbon frame, offering 150 mm travel and rolling on 29″ wheels. BH claim the top model weighs just 16 kg in total, but not in which frame size it was measured. It’s aimed primarily at trail riders who are looking for an exceptionally light eMTB. You’ll be able to choose from four different builds, ranging in size from SM (small?) to XL. The starting price is € 6,499. The builds can be further customised via BH’s online configurator, BH Unique.

A feature we’re always happy to see: BH rely on SRAM’s universal UDH derailleur hanger.
The seat post clamp is integrated into the carbon frame.
The Split Pivot rear suspension provides 150 mm travel.

The new BH iLynx Trail is an exciting addition to the increasingly attractive Light eMTB segment and the specs have us itching to take it for a test ride. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until we can get our hands on it and put it to the test before we can tell you whether BH’s new Light eMTB concept, newly developed motor and modular battery can deliver on the trail. We’ll keep you posted.

Rudolf Fischer

In his previous life Rudolf was a dab hand at promoting innovation, putting his brain behind big-ticket patent assessments that easily ran into six-or-seven-plus figures. These days, the self-confessed data nerd’s role as editor at DOWNTOWN and E-MOUNTAINBIKE is no less exciting. Given his specialism in connectivity, Rudolf’s often placed on the front line of future mobility conversations, but he’s also big into testing new bikes–both on the daily as a committed commuter and intensively for our group tests. The business economist graduate is as versatile as a Swiss penknife, and that’s no hyperbole. Away from two wheels, his background in parkour means he’s a master of front, side and backflips, plus he speaks German, English, French, Russian and a touch of Esperanto. Japanese remains woefully unmastered, despite his best home-learning attempts. Good to know: Rudolf’s sharp tongue has made him a figure of fear in the office, where he’s got a reputation for flexing a dry wittiness à la Ricky Gervais... interestingly, he's usually the one laughing hardest.
