ION Shell Amp Vario Jacket Review
The ION Shell Amp Vario Jacket is perfect for riders looking for a fully featured waterproof in a ‘cannot even feel it’ package. For fast and light after work shreds, the highly elastic, 3 layer waterproof fabric is no less restrictive than a riding jersey. The fully taped seams and high quality YKK waterproof zippers scream quality, while the clever vents on the back of the arms, though not as effective as front vents, aid breathability on hot days. The Waterbomb membrane has a 20,000/20,000 rating, giving the jacket some impressive figures. There is even a neat integrated glasses wipe. On the trail the jacket did keep us dry on all but the wettest of days, and we liked the voluminous hood. What we were most impressed with was the supreme comfort and range of movement on offer, it felt like we didn’t have a jacket on at all. The size is quite generous so if we were between sizes we would consider sizing down.
