The Endura MT500 Waterproof Jacket II is a proper mountain jacket, with a high 18,000 mm waterproof rating and fully waterproof zip and wide storm flap. The team loved the tailored, athletic fit and the high quality materials, inspiring confidence on the really filthy days. The high collar with comfortable lining is sanctuary from hard winds and the long underarm and front vents can be cracked right open for massive ventilation if the sun shines. The highly breathable 64,000 mm rating ExoShell60 3 layer fabric deals with sweat build up well, but as with all jackets it’s best with the vents opened a little. The large 3D hood can accommodate a helmet easily and is highly adjustable. We loved the internal stretch cuff on the sleeves, stopping water driving up past your wrists in really foul weather, it’s little details like these that show the MT500’s Scottish heritage. If you ride a lot with a heavy backpack the durable Cordura panels and silicone grips will keep the jacket looking new for longer. When the weather really turned crappy all the testers agreed that the protective cocoon of the MT500 jacket was the best place to be.

The hood was just large enough to throw over a helmet and had lots of adjustment.

The low cut rear panel ensures you stay dry, but is not so long that you feel crazy at the pub.

About the author

Trev Worsey

Trevor loves adventure. Whisky, riding his bike and everything in between. Though he was born in England, he believes he should have been Scottish. Besides being accustomed to bad weather he's a specialist when it comes to steep and demanding trails. Once, he was in love with competition and raced in the early years of the EWS, but now, at 41-years-old, he no longer has anything to prove. Nonetheless, demonstrating that you can teach an old dog new tricks, he continues to hold his own against the wild and fearless youth. As a reminder of his new role as a father, the words “Think about Brook." (his son) are inscribed on his top tube as a gentle warning against unruly riding. Together with his young family and two crazy dogs, you will almost always find him outdoors. Whether it's teaching Brook to ride trails, hammering out gravel loops, surfing, skiing or canoeing, he’ll be there no matter the weather, like a true Scotsman.
