Surely the words on the lips of the designers at Haibike were ‘more travel, more fun’ as they set about introducing a brand new addition to the third generation of the XDURO collection. Enter, the XDURO DWNHLL Pro, an out-and-out E-downhill bike and a new and updated version of the well-known XDURO NDURO. Here’s the low-down on the new additions.

The Haibike XDURO Dwnhll Pro

With its World Cup-proven spec and aggressive geometry, the Haibike XDURO DWNHLL PRO should deliver uncompromised levels of fun on descents.

The brand new XDURO Dwnhll Pro marks a new standard! Not just Haibike’s first E-downhill bike, the Dwnhll Pro has 200mm of lush front and back travel. Said suspension comes courtesy of the high quality and proven parts from FOX, which can be finely tuned to perfectly suit the rider’s weight. And the rest of the spec list is equally as eyebrow-raising and rigorous head-nodding: powerful Shimano Saint brakes take care of pulling on the reins, there’s the first-rate Saint drivetrain, and stable Mavic Crossmax wheels round off the very position impression. In Haibike style, the XDURO Dwnhll Pro’s frame slots in nicely with the rest of the collection, and features the same innovative details that the rest of the new XDURO3 collection boast, such as the integrated battery, powerful new Bosch CX motor with increased torque, and the pulley that minimizes drivetrain influences. Moreover, the bike’s already pretty slack 63.5° can be adjusted with headset cups.

Any decent downhill bike shouldn’t be without the Shimano Saint drivetrain.
Internally routed cables like this have become something of a trademark for Haibike.
While you’d never see one on a regular downhill bike, a dropper post makes complete sense on the XDURO DWNHLL Pro – after all, thanks to the pedal assist, you can ride the uphills as well.
As on pretty much all the bikes in the XDURO 3 collection, the new and more powerful Bosch Performance CX motor gives you an extra hand on the DWNHLL Pro with its increased torque and 250 watt performance.
Representing one of the best double-crown forks on the market, the FOX 40 FLOAT forks do much more than just look good.
Extremely wide and super flat, the cockpit of the DWNHLL Pro. We’d still prefer a clearer display and a more compact lever to control the motor.

The Haibike XDURO Nduro

Much more than a revised spec, the Haibike XDURO Nduro has had an extensive overhaul for the coming season, with the most significant evolutions now seeing it take 27.5” wheels, house a new drivetrain and welcome the significantly more integrated battery into the downtube. The wheel size increase from 26” to 27.5” then demanded consequent geometry adjustment. Initially available in two build specs, Haibike are launching the XDURO Nduro as the entry-level-priced RX version, which will cost significantly less than this season. Exact information on the price and geometry hasn’t yet been made available unfortunately. But we can assure you that the generous 180mm travel promises just as much trail fun next year!

To guarantee unbridled performance on descents, all the rear shocks come with an external piggy-back reservoir.

Haibike’s own SkidPlate is set to protect the bottom of the motor for the coming season, and should therefore allow for carefree descending without the worry of debris damaging the motor. The pulley on the main pivot point of the drivetrain should eliminate any pedal influence between the rear and the motor.

With the new Xduro3 collection, Haibike have expanded their contributions in the world of E-MTBs and tapped into unknown territory for both themselves and their customers. We’re going to have to wait until the first real riding test until we can assess how an E-downhill bike will fare on both ascents and descents, but our initial thoughts are remarkably positive, and the impression – both on paper and in static real life – is more than encouraging.

Unfortunately we don’t have any precise data when it comes to the geometry of the new bikes.
