EUROBIKE 2015 | New E-MTB from Corratec – the E-XTB 140
Things are happening in Corratec’s full suspension range. The Bavarians are launching the E-XTB 140, a completely new E-MTB which makes the most of existing technologies from the non-motorised sector and aims to offer much better off-road performance than existing models.
The E-XTB will be available in two different specs from the start of 2016, one equipped with the new Bosch Performance CX- and the other with a Bosch Performance 45-Motor (45 km/h). Both get their juice from a 500 Wh battery. The frame is roughly based on Corratec’s Inside Link 10 Hz mountain bike and was optimized for use with a motor. The Inside Link technology, meaning the construction and dynamics of the rear end, stiffens the rear when pressure is put on the chain and is thus supposed to reduce irritating bobbing while pedaling. 10 Hz means that at the upper mount the shock is connected to the frame with a kind of elastomer which can provide up to 15mm extra travel. In this way, small high-frequency hits like those on a flight of steps can be effectively smoothed out before they even reach the shock. This leads to a more comfortable ride.
As far as the components are concerned, both versions are more or less identical apart from the motor. A new 1×11 Shimano XT drivetrain takes care of the shifting, and the M615 brake set (200/180 mm) comes from the same manufacturer. The rear end is connected via a Rock Shox Monarch RT shock, and all other parts, including the wheels, come from the in-house brand ZZYXX. Only the Rock Shox forks are different. The CX 25 version uses a Sektor Silver, whereas the 45 km/h version has a PIKE, which is stiffer and better-performing to suit the higher speed. Unfortunately, neither of the models has a dropper post.
Both versions are on sale from the start of 2016 in 3 colours and sizes. The E-XTB 140 CX 25 will be available for 4700 €, the fast Performance 45 will cost 5,300 €. Weights are not yet available, but they should be around 22 kg.
