EUROBIKE 2015 | CONWAY EMF fully and new plus-size hardtail
Despite their slogan ‘We Make Enduro’, CONWAY also offer a legion of E-(Mountain)bikes and their 2016 collection has had a serious upgrade. We’ve taken a closer look at the two most exciting models: the already existing Fully EMF, which has undergone some slight revisions, as well as the brand-new plus-size hardtail, the EMR Plus.
EMF 327/427
The 130 mm fully with 27.5″ wheels has undergone some minor alterations compared to its previous model. Alongside these upgrades, the choice of two build specs and the fresh new colours, it also features the new Bosch Performance CX motor and 500 Wh battery. The EMF 327 version retails at 3,800 €, and is kitted out with a Shimano 1×10 Deore mix and RockShox suspension (the Recon Silver TK forks and Monarch RL shock). For the higher price of 4,200 €, the EMF 427 comes directly with the 2016 1×11 Shimano XT groupset, including brakes. The 427 also boasts the RockShox Reba RL forks, which surely softens the blow of the 400 € price increase along with the knowledge of having saved 1 kg in weight? The two models also feature a large number of parts from the company’s own brand CONTEC. Both EMF versions will be available at the end of the year in three frame sizes.
EMR 327 Plus
A brand new addition to Conway’s portfolio is the 27.5+ version of the EMR 327 hardtail. Other than the name, this bike shares very little in common with its narrow-tyred ancestors. Having been modified to fit the 2.9″-wide Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres, the frame now boasts a very attractive look, some nice details and a rear thru-axle. The EMR 327 Plus also takes the new Bosch Performance CX motor, gaining power from a 500 Wh battery. The spec errs on the more affordable side of things, featuring a Shimano Deore mix, CONTEX parts and a SUNTOUR Raidon LO R fork. As a result, the 21.6 kg bike can be yours for just 3,000 €. We’ve been assured that the super narrow bars and long stem are just a temporary solution –the production bike will be fitted with a more suitable length cockpit.
